#2 - Comeragh Lakes Tour
Rathgormack, County Waterford, IrelandLength: 7.7 mi • Est. 5 h 13 m
This trail is essentially an extension of the Coumshinghaun Loop. Park at Kilclooney Woods and follow the same usual route up the southern arete to the left hand side of Coumshingaun. Once you reach the Comeragh plateau, continue west towards the carn marking the highest point on the Comeraghs. From the Carn, continue west again across the boggy plateau all the way till you reach the summit of Coumfea North Top. From here a short walk southwest will take you to a point where you have fine views of Lough Coumfea and Coumlocha lakes. Turn around here and walk back towards the carn in a northerly direction and following the contours, descending slightly and you will soon see the two Sgilloge Lakes below in the Nire Valley. Waypoint on the map where the best view of the two lakes is. Great spot for lunch too. From here, its a straight trail back uphill again to the top of the Comeragh Plateau, and continue east towards Coumshingaun. Descend via the northern arete of Coumshingaun.
