Lovely trail and easy to follow. The path is well laid out and its not too strenous if you take your time so great for beginners. Gets pretty windy at the top though, so you do need to watch your step on the last climb up to the top. Waterproof boots are a must. Great views on the way up and even better from the top!

A stunning hike - took us 4 hours including plenty of short stops to enjoy the stunning views.

Red deer spotted up on the mountain and plenty of skylarks.

We were lucky to have a clear day and could see right across the lakes and to many mountains in the distance.

Make sure you have water and some snacks with you for sustenance.

All in all - a very rewarding challenge!

really enjoyed our hike, make sure to wear comfy footwear, and bring extra layer of clothing as it can get cooler as you hike into the mountain esp between months of (aug-apr). it is 11km to lord Brandon cottage, you can get a boat across the lake to Ross castle, however the last boat leaves at 2pm.

If one starts out at Muckross castle and go through the gardens on the way, it smells wonderful this time of year! Pram friendly until you come to the falls., then the loop goes up stairs that is on a steep incline. Great to do on an early Sunday morning!

Excellent hike went in reverse and tackled the devil's ladder going up as the view coming down the other side is nothing short of breathtaking.

This was a reconnaissance mission for our Charity Event 4peakschallenge2019 in June. Couldn’t have had a nicer day for the climb. A few new variables to contend with on this hike... “The Devils Ladder” but a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We were hampered with cloud cover at the summit but caught a few amazing vistas with some breaks in the clouds

Great hike with amazing views and scenery of the National Park, would recommend to beginners.
Started from Muckross House, from here you can walk passed Torc waterfall, however if you follow the road signs for "Old Kenmare Road" then you will find parking above the waterfall which will shorten the journey.

Beautiful views! Up devils ladder was a fun scramble worth the challenge. Wouldn’t recommend doing this in rainy conditions as there is clay at the top section with a massive drop down if you were to slip. At the top of the summit we continued down the loop trail. You DEFINITELY need good hiking boots. You may consider a potentially easier climb down by walking back down the summit the way you came, go past devils ladder and then take the other mountain loop home. Continuing on the trail from the summit was a great trail but would not recommend in conditions other than fair to sunny days.

Did this trail with my girlfriend, views are spectacular. I am not the fittest, but took my time and breaks and made it up in two hours.

Brilliant walk, fantastic uphill path all the way no chance you could get lost. My dog loved it. view down onto Mucross house and lake!! Was closed during fires last week all clear now!!

It was a definite challenge for me. I convinced myself that my fitness level from 2 years ago would carry me through. It did, but barely. We went with Kerry Climbing. We had a great guide. It was such a personal triumph and the views were spectacular. Its called devil's ladder for a reason people, lol. Really enjoyed it. I ll defo try again with a more moderate level of fitness. Gloves, hats and plenty of chocolate are needed.

Amazing place...

Great trail. Does get rugged with some steep rocky surfaces. Mind your step when it is wet. The views at the top were spectacular

2 euros to enter farmers' pastures. The view is very nice when you get to the top of the hill. Once at the top you have to go back because the path is closed.

Incredibly beautiful hike. We hiked in mid March and the devils ladder was like climbing up a small waterfall aka absolutely amazing. Definitely some loose and slick rock, but amazing views. Be aware of clouds/fog on top, but if you get a nice day it’s an amazing hike. We hiked up and down the ladder since we knew the route and were confident in our directions

great trail with sleepers my son loves it

Fantastic walk, weather was not in our favor so we did not have the view from the top. However , very steady incline and you would not need to be an experiment climber/hiker as the path is easily followed . Well worth doing .

This trail is mind blowing. Everything is gorgeous. You feel so small in the middle of the gap. I advise to start early in the morning as you will stop for photo, sheep, car, horse even a swim (if you feel like it) as You are passing 3 lakes. All pictures can be a postal card from Ireland. One thing the start point in the app is not the car park. You will have to park 500m down so it makes the trail a bit longer.

Nice walk but full of tourists
