This trail is beautiful and challenging. The path up the mountain (shorter path) is very well marked and easy to follow, but the long trail down shown on the map (longer trail) is not an actual trail. You will need some direction finding skills and a very good map. As you start to descend where it is shown on the map above you will come to a large field, bog and boulder field. You're boots and legs will get thoroughly soaked and it is important to be attentive and not go over any cliffs. There is also a fence crossing, be alert on this since there is barbed wire that you will need to cross as well as the stream right beside it. Once you've crossed the stream, continue until you reach another fence which can be followed up over the hill to the car park. Great hike, but the descent was a completely unmarked path with no trail.

great views and a bit of scampering required up the steep bit. unfortunately couldn't do the full loop as no visibility at the top and the path disappears when trying to trace it down the far side of mount Brandon. Probably an easy enough loop on a clear day.

Long and monotonous.

We followed the Faha Grotto trail to reach the summit of Mount Brandon. Spectacular 360° view from the top!

We were lucky and hit this section at low tide and on a sunny day. The trail mainly consisted of less traveled country roads and a lot of beach walking.

Mostly unmarked trail, could be considered hard without poles but probably moderate with. You can pretty much make your own route if you're safe but the 3 peaks are definitely worth it (at least the first two). I wouldn't try the loop unless you're feeling brave going down a muddy side of the mountain where you'll probably slip. Also very few people on the trail which is awesome

This walk takes you from the first car park to lough slat, you can drive up closer to the lake if you continue up the road two minutes if walking is not an option and you're practically at the lake. Beautiful lake surrounded by beautiful mountains. We went from the first car park but decided to venture into the forest and follow the river to the lake. Be cautious of you do so as it is very marshy and you really need to watch your footing.. We also had to roll up the pants and cross the stream to get to the benches and out to the main road. Fun little adventure if you want more than just walking up the road.

Did this trail with my girlfriend, views are spectacular. I am not the fittest, but took my time and breaks and made it up in two hours.

Really pretty even in the rain. The board path around the lake keeps you on the trail. The boards are covered with the mesh so no worries about slipping. Third of the walk is under the canopy of trees

beautiful hike with stunning views.
