an amazing hike with the family. highly recommend

Great for family, especially if unplanned as paths are all tarmaced, nice playground for children, and a coffee, ice-cream stall!

This hike was a lot better than expected. The trail is well marked and easy to follow with beautiful view points along the way. The weather can be unpredictable, however the rain and consequential Rainbows made it worth it.

Very well marked and nicely kept trail. Beautiful views the whole time.

Loved this hike.

You can extend walk by 2-3km by continuing to the end of the straight stretch of road - some of what remains of the Galway to Clifden railway route.

Part of the walk - through a field - is now inaccessible, and another along a busy enough road.

It isn't really a trail - it was a walk down an asphalt road with no sidewalk or shoulder. Speed limit is 50 mph on parts and 35 on some. It wasnt that safe considering the road is a typical Ireland road where 2 cars can barely pass each other. There is one part off the road where you walk a trail through a meadow to a castle and that part was pretty.
Oh and there is no loop. It is in and back unless you walk through private property.

Lovely walk with nice views going east to west. The walk goes along a rural road.

Easy well maintained trail.

A wonderful climb in a beautiful place. The walk was not overly strenuous. It was only the last part that was steeper and the wind picked up so made it a bit .ore difficult. Still it was all so worth it! The views were spectacular as disability was great. The descent was not at all difficult as the ground was nice and dry. Look forward to doing it again in the future!

lovely kids as young as 3/4 can go to top

Not very hard. The trail has stone steps. It gets very windy though. Better to go on a sunny day to enjoy the views.

Great hike in good weather, navigation likely to be tricky when mist descends

an excellent opportunity to test your 10km running times. start from the square in clifden, run to the car park at the top of the sky road and back down again, a tough but very enjoyable 10km challenge with breath taking views.

hard to beat the scenery on top of the diamond mountain, a good training run, best to go early in the morning when its quiet.

Very Nice one. It is not so hard. When I was there, all age people were there. Amazing views. Just make sure you get a beautiful sunny day for this one.

1) Don't be put off by the distance, there are many paths in the park and you could do 1km or 20km without much doubling back. We walked through the beech grove to the loop around Bonaveen point which was about 7km.

2) This is a perfect opportunity to stretch your legs on the road from Dublin to Galway. I highly recommend it. There is a field around the car park to play with the kids. Peaceful walks around the park are abundant as well if you need to get away. We saw 2 other parties over 2 hours of walking on a Sunday afternoon.

3) I would rate the walk easy. There is not much change in elevation and the paths are all paved with gravel or asphalt; there is little danger of losing your way. If you are looking for the authentic wilderness experience though, look elsewhere.

4) The toilets at the trail head needed some maintenance at the time I was there.

A amazing walk that I have done a few times.
Only to be done on a quiet day.
When windy it can be dangerous to go to the top.
Steep on some part but overall a definite walk to do in connemara.
Can't wait for the next sunny day to go again.

What a windy walk! It’s steep and nearly all uphill. Step off the rail and sink. But the wind is the toughest part.

Great hike. Follow the route start Left, finish Right. The wind can be blowing so dress appropriately.

Took a bus from Galway to Letterfrack for the day and this trial did not disappoint. Beautiful views at the summit. Would rank it as moderate in terms of endurance relative to most mountains I’ve climbed, short and simple (no hands needed).

Beautiful hike with breathtaking views. Traffic on the trails in July and August but worth it.
