This walk starts and ends at the Smuggler’s Creek Inn, nestled on the cliffs overlooking Donegal Bay and the Blue Stack Mountains in South Donegal. It dates back to the early 1900s. It is situated in the area of Rossnowlagh meaning “heavenly headland”, which stretches along the coast for 6 km. According to local folklore, the Smuggling trade once flourished in Rossnowlagh. When tides were stormy, they used the Creek, below the Inn, to land their vessel and they hauled their booty and their contraband up the old hidden path, hence the name “Smuggler’s Creek”. Manor House is a unique caravan park by the sand dunes by the sea. This park has been carefully developed in an environmentally protected conservation area with scenic views. It is open 12 months of the year.Show more
