Great walk with stunning views. Best to leave car at parking area of Castledonovan or the Creek. The walk is actually 11.4km. Measured by Endomondo. Once you get to the summit it is boggy and wet even after a few sunny days. Dont recommend in rainy or wet days. Definitely not when misty as easy to lose direction if in cloud. Otherwise very well signposted. There is no trail once you reach elevation.

From Priest's Leap col (463m), reaching it by driving the challenging mountain road from Coomhola Bridge to the south. Approach from the north even more challenging a drive. Good views, but bogs to tackle on the faint path. Took the standard route east to the summit following fences over various knolls and past Lough Reagh. 1 hour to the summit, 2 hours in total. Returned the same way. 5.6km, with 320m of ascent.

Be aware that Ireland could be very wet and muddy between November and April. The top 1 hour walking distance and the view is amazing just keep walking keep walking.

Amazing walk!!

Great outing. I did it in clockwise direction starting at castle Donovan. Road first and then up the hill. Very well signposted. Top is exposed and boggy but great views. Took me 2.5 hours to do loop but allow 3 hours for relaxed walk with stops etc. Road section back down hill to castle Donovan has plenty of black berries to eat in august!
