Best Trail in Rishikesh in the Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges River

Multi-day trail for trekking from hill station to hill station and staying overnight at farms and makeshift guest houses. Did this with regular hiking shoes and 45L backpack. Bring plenty of water since it gets so humid. Make sure you have a map and GPS.

A steep climb to the phantoms head rock, giving a fabulous view of the river valley and surrounding mountains. After that some walking in the tea plantations. A great hike overall

Caves are nice, but the hike is bland and flat. With vehicles passing you every minutes. Drive up and enjoy the caves.

not walkable in my opinion, best to take a car to some places in between. places great but very dusty and dirty

The trail is not too difficult. There are no markings and some paths lead to private properties. At one point on the trail you come across a woodden gate which is a private property presumably, only way to continue is to jump over and keep walking. Up until this point the trail is well defined and can even accommodate a jeep, after this you gotta go by walk. You might come across some cows and pet dogs too.

Great historic trail in Nashik. Shades walk all the way to the caves. These are Buddhist caves so a little bit of reading on Buddhist history will help a lot. The signs on the way up are going but don’t mention years/ period. All the caves have different stories so reading in advance will help. Steps most of the way up with an option to take a steep rustic trail

Nice little getaway while still in the city. Generally quite crowded, tons of places to sit, and a million love birds walking around.

The climb up to the caves is steep but very worth the effort as the caves are amazing to witness.

Amazing trail that gives you a panoramic view of the great Himalayan range, rivers, walking through a dense forest, meadows, Flora, Fauna, and photography, and can be a perfect start for beginners and nature lovers.

This trail has excellent views up and down, but you’ll work for them. It is in 3 distinct stages. The first section is extremely well marked with arrows. after you climb over the first rock wall, the second stage starts which is steeper and is poorly marked. This part becomes kind of a “choose your own adventure” since it’s very easy to lose the actual trail. Once on the ridge line, the trail is marked decently with the climbing minimal. I’d avoid in rain, but it’s a great trek otherwise.
