Really cool area to traverse along the shoreline. Even on a cloudy day it was beautiful views. A nice stop to stretch your legs from the car ride. Apparently you can see the top of the glacier on a nice day, but we had too much clouds.

Didn’t do much hiking, more like scrambling around the rock formations. Still a really cool, unique landscape - almost like another planet.

Snow and icy rocks were slippery and prevented us from going too far in but the gorge was awesome and definitely worth the quick hike!

beautiful easy walk with tons of views of the coast.

It's a nice spot to stop during the road trip. It's very easy hike, there are stairs all the way up to the crater. It doesn't take long and it has nice views. Good staff for a short stop :)

Ofteb wet in winter dangerous rock scrambling if wet.
The trail on here is not an easy one, I suggest to follow the fence line all the way up to the rocks.

Beautiful easy trail. Mostly paved. All ages. No slope. Astonishing view.

Didn’t make it up all the way, just to the first rope. Pretty good considering we did it on December 20th. It got too icy but could see how it would be an amazing view at the top! Will have to attempt again in the spring/summer.

It was a great little hike. We got lucky with some cooperative weather and the view was amazing! The trail is not marked at all and the first half is a little difficult to follow as there is no defined track. The second half is more defined, but gets challenging heading up the mountain. All in all, it was a fun hike and I would totally recommend it to someone who doesn’t struggle with following the GPS and a map.

Nice easy hike along the coastline. Beautiful sweeping views

Eyrún and I hiked over a stream down the narrow ravine until a green rope stopped us. Otherworldly views!!

Lovely coastal hike

This is a nice trail that walks through cooled lava rocks covered with moss with the ocean by your side! At Hellnar there is a nice cafe where you can grab a drink or bite to eat before heading back.

Three sketchy rope sections near the top but worth it.

The views are key here, you get a glimpse of 360 around you, the town, the ocean, the waterfalls of course across the road! Much worth it.

Very rewarding hike. make sure you go all the way to the top for some beautiful views. I would then say the hike becomes moderate. The Trial is not marked but there are clear paths and they do seem to connect. Just keep checking your GPS on Alltrials to make sure you are on track. We did it in quite high winds (about 30mph) and maybe not recommended as the small stones whip at the top and be careful not to lose your hat!

Lovely walk along the coast with beautiful views. When we did it the car park was basically empty at Arnarstapi (where we parked) but very busy at Hellnar

Lovely short hike and really cool to clamber along the canyon (I suggest you wear waterproofs). I did not attempt the green rope climb though!

This trail starts at the parking area and can be difficult to follow at times as there are no markings. But it offers great views and a very rewarding, if steep, climb at the very end. Keep going upstream and you'll reach the summit of the mountain for some of the best views. Also be sure to check out the waterfall hidden out of sight from the road. You'll see the river flowing from the parking area - just head down and head to the left for a beautiful and secluded falls

Enjoyable coastal walk along the cliff top. Mostly flat, clearly marked and great views in both directions

A rewarding and short hike through the canyon. After a short while you'll face some large stones to clamber over. Keep going. It's worth getting wet for and the canyon is narrow so it's fairly easy to stabilise yourself as you move forward. Didn't climb the green rope but the views up to that point didn't disappoint.

This was probably the best short hike I did on Iceland. The gorge was absolutely beautiful. You'll have to make a short climb but he rock is not slippery. Keep going deeper in the gorge and you'll come to a green rope where you climb higher in the canyon. You'll get a little wet for sure. Unfortunately, we didn't have proper clothing or adequate time to make this climb.

Very scenic hiking area at the coastal line of Snaefellsness

Trailhead was hard to find. GPS coordinates were a little off. Park by a small pond on the west side of the road. Trail is not marked or defined at all. Must have GPS working. Lots of loose lava rock. Beautiful views from the top!
