The views are key here, you get a glimpse of 360 around you, the town, the ocean, the waterfalls of course across the road! Much worth it.

Very rewarding hike. make sure you go all the way to the top for some beautiful views. I would then say the hike becomes moderate. The Trial is not marked but there are clear paths and they do seem to connect. Just keep checking your GPS on Alltrials to make sure you are on track. We did it in quite high winds (about 30mph) and maybe not recommended as the small stones whip at the top and be careful not to lose your hat!

Lovely short hike and really cool to clamber along the canyon (I suggest you wear waterproofs). I did not attempt the green rope climb though!

This trail starts at the parking area and can be difficult to follow at times as there are no markings. But it offers great views and a very rewarding, if steep, climb at the very end. Keep going upstream and you'll reach the summit of the mountain for some of the best views. Also be sure to check out the waterfall hidden out of sight from the road. You'll see the river flowing from the parking area - just head down and head to the left for a beautiful and secluded falls

A rewarding and short hike through the canyon. After a short while you'll face some large stones to clamber over. Keep going. It's worth getting wet for and the canyon is narrow so it's fairly easy to stabilise yourself as you move forward. Didn't climb the green rope but the views up to that point didn't disappoint.

This was probably the best short hike I did on Iceland. The gorge was absolutely beautiful. You'll have to make a short climb but he rock is not slippery. Keep going deeper in the gorge and you'll come to a green rope where you climb higher in the canyon. You'll get a little wet for sure. Unfortunately, we didn't have proper clothing or adequate time to make this climb.

Trailhead was hard to find. GPS coordinates were a little off. Park by a small pond on the west side of the road. Trail is not marked or defined at all. Must have GPS working. Lots of loose lava rock. Beautiful views from the top!

This hike is primarily flat, if a bit uneven throughout. There's a fair bit of mud on wet days (not uncommon for Iceland) and optional chain assistance on the actual crater itself but this trail should not pose much of an issue for most folks who'd consider themselves to be in okay shape.

The crater has an observation area at the top with chain ropes on each side that seem to dissuade walking around the entire crater, but I've read elsewhere that walking along the entire edge is possible.

If you leisurely walk this trail, it could easily take over two hours. However, if you hustle and/or trail jog, it can be completed in between 75 and 90 minutes.

It terms of locating the trailhead itself, drive about 32 km (about 20 miles) north of Borgarnes until you see a sign and road for Snorrastadir Farm. You can drive this road down to the farm itself, where there is a parking lot. The gate for the trail is just over the nearby bridge.
