Stunning trail, particularly if you are fortunate enough to traverse it on a sunny day. Hike (on a well-maintained trail) through lava fields and past fumaroles, enjoying fantastically colorful mountains.

This trail is heavily trafficked to and at the beautiful Svartifoss waterfall, but only lightly trafficked to and at the intriguing Sel turf houses. Our kids enjoyed having two very different highlights in a single relatively short hike. You can chop off 0.2m by cutting back across a bridge over the river to close the loop earlier if you don't mind getting back on a heavily trafficked trail (we had the slightly longer trail to ourselves).

Short, pretty hike mostly along Kvernu river to reach a beautiful Icelandic waterfall that you can even walk behind. Kvernufoss is not as classically beautiful as nearby Skogafoss, and you can't make a full circle behind it as with Seljalandsfoss, but we loved that we had the entire hike and waterfall to ourselves (aside from a few grazing sheep that simply made the hike more picturesque).

challenging , breathtaking. Like hiking through a painting with changing landscape around every turn.

This gets a bad rap - it’s not a hike it’s a 4ish mile round trip walk on a path. The plane is very cool. Very spooky. And the black sand beaches are absolutely beautiful. No this is not a hike and yes it’s understandable that the tourist that come to the island and expected this to be a hike will be disappointed. However if you’re looking to see something cool and want to let your body rest from some of the grueling hikes you might have completed in the last days, this is a great way to spend an hour

Great scenery and some interesting Icelandic history to learn about along the way, but very crowded and the waterfall is underwhelming compared to others in Iceland.

Went to look at the plane. It’s a long walk out. Once I got out there, people were all over the plane, even standing on top of it. Not even a good chance to get a photo. I would recommend going elsewhere.

well paved trail and beautiful scenery nice easy hike

This is a great trail, lots of thermal activity to see. The hot spring river is nice to soak in, there are 2 sided chest high platforms to change up but your sure to show a little cheek. The end is not as warm as Id have liked so go further up if ypu want warmer. tThe elevation gain is pretty serious the first 1.1km or so of about 330m. def worth the effort and time. leave yourself at least 3 to 4 hrs to hike and soak and take photos.

Cool waterfall quick walk takes maybe 5 mins pay to park and crowded

Great walk. We actually walked all the way to Skógar with an extra day-hike in the Þórsmörk valley. So, 7 days in total.
Truly amazing landscape but very crowded in summer (although a river crossing is easier because you'll see where others are crossing). Unfortunately no wildcamping allowed.

Great view, well worth the trip, just very crowded.

It was a decent view, pretty crowded but that's to be expected. Definitely a good spot to bring the family if you want to go for a little hike but not spend too much energy on it.

I was there in May and took an early morning hike beyond the gate. There is a five mile trail that follows the river and it lets you view a ton of waterfalls. The photos came out amazingly. The only downside was that the day I was there was extremely windy. So windy that I ended up turning back about 2 miles in after I almost got blown off the plateau and into the river.

Was disappointed with this... with all the beauty Iceland has to offer I found this tour monotonous and anticlimactic. You hike a few miles just to get to a bare plane with tourists. If you're into aviation I'd recommend it but there are so many better places worth your time.

Pretty hike with a soothing payoff at the end. As of this review the address within AllTrails is incorrect...the trailhead is located next to the Hot River Cafe!

Very beautifull trail

Great for photos! Bring a rain jacket. The wind can carry the water off the falls quite a distance.
