very short hike but amazing waterfall!

The wind was quite strong the day we went which made the cold hard to bare. It is an interesting stop. I would not go twice though

There isn't a trail or waterfall I didn't enjoy in Iceland

Easy...ha... those stairs almost killed me.

Beautiful falls. The best was definitely the waterfall in the cave. Watch out some of the rocks are a little unstable and the water is cold!

The listed trail (0.8 miles) is very crowded. I recommend climbing the stairs, reaching the observation point, then continuing onward. The trail proceeds through a gate that leads multiple miles back along the river. Here, you will discover a lot more waterfalls and a lot more solitude. It's an out & back so you can choose how deep you go but the views are incredible. I'd give the extended hike five stars and the 0.8 mile hike (just up the stairs and back) three stars, though Skogafoss is incredible to observe regardless.

Beautiful waterfall but completely packed with crowds nowadays. The trail (stairs) have been redone, so you can no longer walk to the edge.

Such a gorgeous trail and awesome workout! The view from the top is awesome, and if you keep going there’s another awesome waterfall area.

Loved this trail! Gorgeous views all around! Little creeks and and small waterfalls along the trail and near the end there’s a little creek cave you can walk up to another small waterfall. Absolutely gorgeous!

Hiked in to the bridge that crosses the Skoga River. 21 waterfalls along approximately 5 miles of moderate to challenging trail with an elevation gain of 520 meters. Yes I will do it again! Just keep going along the river and follow the numbered wooden stakes blazed blue on top!

Beautiful waterfall!! East steps to the top.

Beautiful, easy and slick behind the waterfall.

The waterfall itself is spectacular, but you should definitely do the trail above the falls. Practically no people, and there are a ton of waterfalls along the river that feed Skogafoss. Plenty of opportunities to take pictures with hardly another person in sight.

April 18, 2018. The path is closed. Too muddy which causes people to track around mud which in turn makes it even more trampled. Great walk nevertheless going down and back on the front side. 2.05 total to do parking lot to first falls then trail down to hidden falls and back.

AMAZING waterfall. So cool to be able to walk behind it. My favorite waterfall in Iceland.

Beautiful waterfall. But do yourself a favor and follow the trail above Skogafoss. More waterfalls, fewer people, terrific views.

Its a long walk through flat barren landscape, and was full of people when we got there so you couldn't get a good picture. A couple people had bicycles which might have made it worth it.

Short, pretty hike mostly along Kvernu river to reach a beautiful Icelandic waterfall that you can even walk behind. Kvernufoss is not as classically beautiful as nearby Skogafoss, and you can't make a full circle behind it as with Seljalandsfoss, but we loved that we had the entire hike and waterfall to ourselves (aside from a few grazing sheep that simply made the hike more picturesque).

This gets a bad rap - it’s not a hike it’s a 4ish mile round trip walk on a path. The plane is very cool. Very spooky. And the black sand beaches are absolutely beautiful. No this is not a hike and yes it’s understandable that the tourist that come to the island and expected this to be a hike will be disappointed. However if you’re looking to see something cool and want to let your body rest from some of the grueling hikes you might have completed in the last days, this is a great way to spend an hour

Went to look at the plane. It’s a long walk out. Once I got out there, people were all over the plane, even standing on top of it. Not even a good chance to get a photo. I would recommend going elsewhere.

I was there in May and took an early morning hike beyond the gate. There is a five mile trail that follows the river and it lets you view a ton of waterfalls. The photos came out amazingly. The only downside was that the day I was there was extremely windy. So windy that I ended up turning back about 2 miles in after I almost got blown off the plateau and into the river.

Was disappointed with this... with all the beauty Iceland has to offer I found this tour monotonous and anticlimactic. You hike a few miles just to get to a bare plane with tourists. If you're into aviation I'd recommend it but there are so many better places worth your time.

Great for photos! Bring a rain jacket. The wind can carry the water off the falls quite a distance.

Beautiful, short walk. Pretty easy, but there are some wet, rocky areas to navigate that I noticed others had some difficulty with. If you can manage it, it is worth it. Don't forget rain gear or a change of clothes! Maybe try going in the early morning to avoid the crowds and make sure to walk down to the other falls as well.
