Beautiful hike, but be careful if snowy- the trail can be very slippery since it’s so steep.

Absolutely beautiful scenery. The lava field portion is a bit hard on the knees and ankles but it’s worth the hike.

If you like waterfalls - this isn’t to be missed.

Awesome. Totally different from what you think. You get the sense you are in the middle of nowhere. May bother some people.

Easy, but fun. Great falls.

Very easy. Expected more. Better hiking in Iceland than this one.

the trail part of the hike was very easy. We went in October and saw some great rainbows on the walk back, but the real fun was going up on the glacier. we brought our own micro spikes and hiking poles and went without a guide. there's so much traffic on the glacier that it was easy to follow the paths of the tour groups without following behind them. crossing the medial moraine was a bit more complicated, had to go pretty far up, but definitely worth it (to us)

Beautiful black sand beach. Roaring surf. Be leery of the waves they can be dangerous.

Cool to experience behind the waterfall views. Very easy hike.

Short hike to waterfall. Really pretty. Very crowded with tourists

Hidden gem. Still unkown and therefore no turist

Beautiful easy hike.

Beautiful waterfall. Slippery walking. Three women slipped just walking to get to the waterfall. Wear decent shoes.

Cool area. Very busy and hard to find parking.

In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful falls in Iceland of the ones I saw. The hike has a incline on the way there and a decline on the way back. Recommend!

Great hike with well maintained trails. Took long route up and direct route down, about 2.5 hours round trip. Beautiful views and a couple nice streams on the climb up.

Tourist overlook of a big waterfall and gorgeous canyon. Short walk, lots of crowds, long drive, but free.

Incredible waterfall and such a cool experience to be able to walk behind it. After you leave continue down the path to the right (away from parking) to a small, even more impressive hidden waterfall! You have to walk through a small cave to get to it. It was my favorite waterfall in Iceland.

Easy to get to and beautiful waterfall.

Very fun experience to go behind this big waterfall. But even better... hike down the path to Gljufrafoss! You have to step on some stones over a small creek into a cave to get to these hidden falls but it’s worth it. Loved visiting both falls.

Recommend doing the loop with Austerbrekkur on the way up to see the glacier, then to the waterfall. Or if you need and easier hike do the A. Trail on the way down. But it’s a great view on the whole way up to look at the glacier!

Best view you can get of Reykjavík. There’s valleys and mountains and coastal scenery. Probably many rainbows to see if you get varied weather. I saw at least three! Stunning hike. Definitely straight uphill. Takes around 2.5 - 3.0 hours.

Busy but you can't help but be impressed. Don't just stick to the bottom: climb the steps to the top and continue going up the path to see more falls and terrific views. There were about 100 people at the bottom and along the top path we came across maybe a dozen people.

Fairly strenuous due to the trail being straight uphill. Rock scramble at the end but the view on a clear day is well worth all the work !!! if you're in the city it's a great nearby trail

Short walk from car park to the waterfall

Nice, quiet, fairly flat walk alongside the river leading to a series of small-medium sized waterfalls. I suspect the trail goes further than the map suggests - it just depends how far you want to / are allowed to go.

A nice short walk from the church but not very well marked and while the waterfall is pleasant there are better examples. Visit if you are in the area but not an essential

Beautiful falls and easy walk
