A great place to stretch your legs. The icebergs are beautiful, there is plenty of parking and space here making the area feel very peaceful.

Just WoW!!!

Amazing hike! I know its rated as hard, but this would be considered easy for a NH White mountain hike. The views are magical.

Ça vaut la peine de suivre la S3, de faire la boucle et de passer par Svartifoss.

A fantastic hike. Just do it you won’t regret it. It’s not hard at all. a few steep sections but easily doable.

The glacier views on the hike up and amazing as well as the valley!! It’s through trees and such a nice climb. Do this hike up and then loop to the waterfall Svartifoss, and other loops with viewpoints for the way down. Don’t miss the waterfall it’s amazing.

Easy hike with just a few steeper sections. We set out along the ridge. This was terrific since we could see the glacier for the whole walk up. Also nice birding in the shrub area. The view at Sjonarnipa was lovely and worth taking some time to enjoy. The walk from there to the Svartifoss waterfall was delightful, and included some boardwalks to protect the wetlands. We absolutely loved this hike.

Thats a good one! But please make the detour to svartifoss. I know it's touristy, but why not?

Definitely go on this hike if you have a morning or half a day in Seydisfjordur! There is a new waterfall to admire every 15 minutes. The trail is marked by posts all along. We couldn’t make it the last 0.5km because the river was too wide, but the hike was still absolutely worth it.

If you do not have glacial hiking experience but you love the idea of hiking a glacier, hire a guide and hike this glacier. I usually like hiking on my own accord but I don't have the means of effectively hiking a glacier on my own (equipment, know-how, etc.) This was some of the best money I ever spent. Hike a glacier, climb it, maybe even stumble upon an ice cave, but only with a specialist in tow. It's amazing.

To be precise, I'm assuming this trail (0.6 miles) is referring to observing the glacier without stepping foot on it. That is still an awesome experience; glaciers are insane to witness up close. Still, if at all possible, I recommend doing what you need to do (even if it means paying for a guide) to safely find yourself escorted onto the actual glacier itself. You won't regret it.

This was one of the best and closest views of a glacier we saw. You don't even have to hike the half mile to see a gorgeous view just over a small hill from the parking lot. Very pot holey road on the way there but SO worth it. I'd do the walk around the glacial lake. Really cool ice caves with falling chunks/dripping icebergs. Watch out for the edge by the water there's quicksand-like mud in some spots . My husbands hiking boot got submerged ! 

Hiked to sjonarnipa (out and back did not do the loop) and had awesome view of the glacier. Did not take the svartifoss route because we had already seen so many waterfalls in Iceland. This was not a crowded trail and the views were amazing along the way . Moderate to difficult. Steady incline with some flat parts . Took us about two hours including pictures.
