Once known as the Tai Po Kau plantation, Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve is now a popular destination for nature lovers. This nature reserve features a wide array of biodiversity making it a great place for naturalists and biologists doing research. Tai Po Kau is surrounded by lush forests, there are over 100 different species of trees! The most commonly seen and known ones are the Tsung Tsai Yuen (Pine Garden) and Chinese Red Pine. Make sure to keep an eye out for the inhabitants of the trees, visitors will be able to see species such as sweet gum and giant beans. Birds are also very popular in this reserve, look around for spotted doves and the chinese bulbul. During the winter, if you're lucky, visitors might be able to see owls! This nature reserve is open to the public however it does not provide amenities such as bbq grills or playgrounds. This park does not allow any sort of fires, however picnicking is allowed.
