Amazing views-great trail. A must when in Hong Kong!

good hike with awesome views of shek-o and big wave bays. Avoid Sunday if you don't like crowds.

Great hike, good views, bring a swim suit. A dip in the bay is an amazing way to cool off after the hike. There is a designated changing area. If not in a hurry to get to Big Wave Bay I would suggest not taking the first path to the beach. Instead of taking the first path to the “right” continue on and in another 10 mins or so is another path that will take you to the beach. More great views and it leads to 3000 year old (allegedly) rock carvings.

The trail is amazing and provides beautiful views over the open sea to the east and island views to the west. At the end of the trail, walk down to and visit the village of Shek-O and have a meal at the restaurant close to the beach. The trail is not strenuous and can easily be completed with normal fitness in a couple of hours.

Métro from Hong Kong, with small bus ride. Well worth it, bring water lots of sun exposure. Nice views. From the end, go down to the beach and grab the bus back. Nice one day activity out of the city and the chaos of Hong Kong.

The start of the path in Mui Tsz Lam is tricky to find. There is a building at the northern end of the road and the path starts just around the corner from that building.
While much of it walk easy, the section from Mui Tsz Lam to the top of the pass is definitely not easy. The path there is rugged and steep. The original steps, paved with hewn stone, was laid a long time ago. Unless you have a very good balance walking poles are recommended.
After the top of the pass the downhill section is pretty straight forward

loved it! great views throughout the whole trail.
having lots of water is essential, there are also some drink vendors at Big Wave Bay to refill your stocks.
Saw people canoeing and doing other water sports on the beach.

One of the best hikes to take on HK island. Moderately difficult climbs, beautiful views and a rewarding beach at the end. Easy accessibility at both start and finish of the hike - public transport or taxi.
