The trail is amazing and provides beautiful views over the open sea to the east and island views to the west. At the end of the trail, walk down to and visit the village of Shek-O and have a meal at the restaurant close to the beach. The trail is not strenuous and can easily be completed with normal fitness in a couple of hours.

Métro from Hong Kong, with small bus ride. Well worth it, bring water lots of sun exposure. Nice views. From the end, go down to the beach and grab the bus back. Nice one day activity out of the city and the chaos of Hong Kong.

Cute little hike that leads to a beach, good surrounding, well designed and not dangerous

Beautiful hike along the ocean. Go to Lamma Grill for the best ribs you’ll ever have! And if you want a less crowded beach with great swimming stop at Lo So Shing beach instead of the main beach along the trail (about 45 min walk from the main ferry terminal / Lamma Grill)

Trail is easy. I hiked with few children, my 3 years old on a light stroller. We carried it when there were steps. Not clearly marked at the beginning thru the beach and village at DB. The view on top of hill is excellent. Monastery is beautiful. You can also attend daily mass 7am, none 2pm, vespers 5:20pm if you are catholic. Sunday mass 10:30am and Benediction 7:20pm. Monks and Sisters are still living there.

loved it! great views throughout the whole trail.
having lots of water is essential, there are also some drink vendors at Big Wave Bay to refill your stocks.
Saw people canoeing and doing other water sports on the beach.

One of the best hikes to take on HK island. Moderately difficult climbs, beautiful views and a rewarding beach at the end. Easy accessibility at both start and finish of the hike - public transport or taxi.

Beautiful views!

I've done this trail numerous times, including with my 88-year-old father. The trail is never strenuous. but it gives a very different picture of Hong Kong than you get on other trails and other islands. There is an amazing tiny Thai satay stand near Yung Shue Wan, where you can also sit down for other Thai dishes. It's the best replica of the atmosphere in Thailand for such places that I've found outside of Thailand and the food is great. At the south end, if you want to keep going, there is a trail that loops around the eastern of the two peaks, to some lovely beaches on the south side of the island; there is also a trail that goes up and over the eastern peak if you want to get a great view over the Lamma Channel and the South China Sea.

Nice trail! Not only hiking on the mountain, but also going to a wonderful beach!

Fully paved trail, well marked, nice beaches and scenic views. But lacking the sense of adventure of an unpaved trail.
