Sublime. Not much of a hike, but there is a campground and the beach is truly one of a kind.

HikingGreat!

Great view relatively easy ridge trail. The camp road was clear. There was some tree blocking the road 1/4 mile before the trail head but 10 minutes with a hand saw and we were past it. At the river crossing about 0.25 miles down the trail there is a fallen tree near trail which is just to the left of the fallen tree. Wasn't obvious where the trail was from across the river. You will need a 4x4 truck or jeep to ford the Kawaikoi Stream but there was a subaru that had made it to the kawaikoi camp.

This is my second time in three years and both times the conditions were very wet and the coastal views were nonexistent. Maybe when conditions are dry, this trail is moderate, but when conditions are wet this trail is HARD.

Loved this area! We camped a few nights on the beach and it was very quiet. Beautiful and more secluded than other touristy beaches

This adventure exceeded my expectations in all aspects. We decided to SUP from the Wailua river mouth on the south shore. We had a tail wind which was helpful. After the Hawaiian camp and right fork in the river we soon after left our boards on the shore near the first sign. We could have paddled a little further around the corner, as we saw some kayaks parked up further. It was easy enough to walk this section too. We walked up the river and there is no longer a rope to help cross the river, so we crossed at the deeper, but calmer side up on top of the “rapids”. The start of the trail was found by locating the sign which can be seen from the river. It was quite overgrown, probably due to COVID. Not long after the green grass-type section we hit a section of newly laid boardwalk which takes you all the way to the river crossing at the end where you make your way up to the falls. It made the walk very easy but then made us realize it wasn’t going to be a “secret falls” for too much longer. We found the turn off easily because it was signed and we climbed up the rocks and scrambled to see the falls. We were the only ones there for over an hour which was lovely. The falls were very strong due to recent rains! A huge group came behind us so we decided to leave. We spent some time in the river swimming and floating down the rapids which was a fun way to spend the afternoon. We paddled back in the afternoon sunset which was a perfect way to end the day. Highly recommend this adventure!

Amazing. hike with a beautiful place to enjoy the Vista and have snacks or lunch. It's a climb out most of the way back so be ready! A must do hike and remember to take your rubbish with you and respect the place, mahalo!

A hard challenging hike, not for the weak, must be conditioned and able to make the hike back out, it's a killer! The view of the coastline is incomparable. The ridge is steep, so be careful and if you haven't been there before, you will get lost, there are trails all over the place, many of them are hunter trails, not hiking trails, beware, this is not a place to be lost. Never go alone and go early so you have lots of time to find your way in & back out. it's an amazing hike, one of the best I've done so far! Wear long pants & long sleeve if you don't wanna get scratched up from the ferns. Remember never to leave rubbish on any trail & treat the place with respect.

Nothing special. We went the clockwise route. Park by the McDonald’s, cross the street to Valley of the Temples, walk towards the woods and the entrance is in the woods adjacent to some gravestones. Hard to find the entrance but then the rest of the way is super well marked. Going clockwise, the first half was completely flat, and then at the end point of the loop there is a steep climb. Good cardio. A few good viewpoints but I definitely wouldn’t put this trail on any Top Hikes on Oahu ranking lists. Wear bug spray and avoid the bees nests. We saw no one else on the trail.

Awesome trail with a pretty well defined route, the views from the cliffs are amazing, and really not that difficult for most of the trek. The waterfall is well worth the hike!

First to Review

The first 3mi or so are through old Ohia growth, which is super cool, and the next 3mi are on exposed lava rocks.. idk if I lost the correct route, or if AllTrails is mislabeled, but I ended up routing my way to a well defined path that ran parallel to what AllTrails maps.. I didn’t make it all the way to the ocean/ end, I was about 1mi out and knew I’d be hiking over 12mi roundtrip, but I don’t think I’d go back for it (once was enough for this one haha)

Great place to stop and stretch your legs as you drive through the State Park. Trail is short with spectacular views if the weather is compliant.

Gorgeous views unlike what you’ve come to expect from the Hawaiian Islands and is well worth the drive up. Views upon views if the weather cooperates. Weather changes quickly up here so be prepared.
