This was not a trail, it was a paved road.

Just the driving alone will take you 2.5 hours (or more with traffic). This is a well crafted list of some cool spots to see on the island, but I think it would be hard to fit into one day.

This is the same as the “Windward Coast Scenic Drive” route on All Trails, just with better waypoints and markers than the other “trail”.

I don’t like that there are “drives” on all trails because to get a verified complete would mess up all of your personal stats in terms of mileage and elevation.

Scenic drivingGreat!

Loved the Road to Hana! The views were spectacular and it will take you a few days to see them all. A few spots are terrifying as they are on the side of sheer cliffs and the locals come flying around the turns. The roads are very small and really can only fit a single car, yet it’s a two way road. The end near the National park turns into more of a dirt road so it can be rough in a few spots. My advice, stay attentive, if you want to see something have the courtesy to stop instead of slowing down, worth every winding, terrifying minute!

Loved this area! We camped a few nights on the beach and it was very quiet. Beautiful and more secluded than other touristy beaches

Was there in February. Absolutely breathtaking views and areas to stop and explore. Drive slow and be cautious of others since the road is narrow and at times a bit terrifying but so worth the adventure! A must do in Maui!

We enjoyed the scenic drive from Kona to South Point during our visit many years ago, making many stops along the way. The coastline has lots of pretty views as it hugs the slopes of Mauna Loa. It also is heaven for the serious coffee lover.

I drove the amazing road to Haleakala’s summit years ago, long before my organized hiking days. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for my visit that day and the visibility was poor. It is a priority of mine to get back sometime for those views and to hike into the incredible crater at nearly 10,000 feet above sea level.

Beautiful drive with tons of trails to hike of all lengths. So much to see. We stopped to swim with waterfalls and saw the most beautiful views we’ve ever seen. Download the Road to Hana Gypsy Guide on your phone. It works without cell service and you can highlight the stops you want to make and pause the audio when you choose to stop. Make sure you leave early and spend the whole day. Lots of people turn around at Hana and go back, but we leave around 8am and go all the way around. The views past Hana are a whole different scenarios with cliffs and pastures of green. It’s peaceful and not crowded at all. The backside past Hana is all scenery, not much to stop at unless you do like we did and just stand in awe.

Very unique drive with some stunning views. The road is well kept, too, with many spots to stop and take in views or explore volcanic landscapes.

Worth it to get to South Point and the green sand beach but otherwise just a normal Hawaiian drive on the coastline.

Great day trip and it was very helpful to have the Road to Hana audio app by Gypsy Traveler. We stopped as much as we could and enjoyed some bbq along the way. We went all the way to the 7 pools and hiked Pipiwai to the Waimoku falls which was outstanding. Tons of great short hikes all the way through and the only one that didn’t pan out was Twin Falls since it was raining hard during our trip and we were not able to cross the river. I would recommend this trip rain or shine.

awesome drive but left the driving to a tour guide. went all around the volcano which was so cool. I could not have driven it and enjoyed it much would be too focused on safety. it is a challenging drive. many great sites as well. check any guide book for the ones that resonate with you.

North shore is one of the best areas to find empty small beaches with clear blue water. Not really recommended for swimming cause there are huge waves Check our hike guide on youtube: Write on Youtube: Hawaii Travel Guide Drone DJI Mavic Air

Beautiful drive. I recommend downloading the Road To Hana App it was well worth it as it describes history, various places to stop, etc. Don’t expect any cell phone service. Some of the hikes along the way were muddy. The best was hiking to the bamboo forest!

I just walked the beach. The “trail” is just the dirt access road. Once you reach the end of the beach you can walk across the rocks if you have hiking boots in order to see the ocean cliff faces better. Really pretty. I camped here for 2 nights, the stars are unreal. There’s plenty of space to camp so consider the views you are blocking when parking. There are multiple areas to camp, all the way to the cliff face back a 1/2 pmile, you just gotta be curious to see where side roads go. Don’t go on the sand by the vegetation unless you have 4x4 bc you will get stuck. I had to push another campers’ Truck out that was only 2 wheel drive. There are several sets of bathroom and shower areas, walking distance from the camp sites. It gets windy so close your beach umbrella when not in use.

Easy walk, great for viewing the beach and people watching. But it is still a city street, so it is kinda dirty and a lot of homeless along the way.

So the trail on the All Trails app is actually a road. Bumpy is an understatement...riddled with ruts and pot holes. Drive SLOWLY if you don’t have a vehicle with good suspension. We went on a day it was dry and did fine. Just had to go slow. The road is about 3 miles and it took us about 25-30 minutes. We took beach supplies and were able to carry them easily up the dune. Beautiful views of the Nepali Coast! Sacred spot in Hawaiian culture so respect the area. We waded in the water but didn’t go beyond the reef. Wish we had brought snorkeling equipment.

Nothing special, there are 3-4 spots to view the coast and ocean, but there is no parking or even turnover near by! So if stopped there it’s just for 2 minutes to make a quick photo and continue driving. There are 7-8 stops with waterfalls, but most of them just creeks. It’s exhausting, it’s not a hike, it’s a drive! PLEASE PEOPLE PULL OVER IF YOU SEE A FEW CARS BEHIND YOU! REMEMBER LOCALS - ITS ONLY ONE ROAD TO GET TO PLACES FOR THEM!

The hike shown on All Trails is actually the drivable dirt road. It can be done in any car with good clearance if it is dry. 4wd if wet. The road is riddled with big potholes. Walking this would be a complete waste of time. The dirt road takes you within 200 feet of the beach. You can walk for miles on this scenic beach and it is very uncrowded. Downside is that the surf here is usually too rough and dangerous for swimming.
