NOTE: This trail is temporarily closed due to tree Rapid Ohia Death. Please check on the status of the trail before visiting. This is a beautiful trail in central Oahu. A permit from the Department of Forestry and Wildlife at Makiki is required to gain access to the 4WD road that leads you to the trailhead. Once at the trailhead, it is a wide meandering and easy hike that traverses some of the most pristine forest on Oahu. There are great views of the Koolaus, Poamoho Stream, and of the east, north, and west coasts. At the top, it is a grassy area beyond the Kline Memorial, with epic views of Kaawa, Kahana, and Punaluu. Don't miss the great view of the pyramid mountain Pu'u Ohulehule. In all a great hike. Be sure that to watch the weather as it is normally raining at Poamoho and it can get very muddy. Lookout for the yellow, orange, pink and red ohia trees!Show more

This is a loop trail that takes you through paper bark forest and other invasive plants (e.g. uluhe, etc). The trail is a bit of an up and down jaunt with the final reward being a dip in the stream. Be careful if it is raining as the stream can swell.Show more

This is a challenging hike that requires rock scrambling and getting dirty! Start out from the Kolekole Trail and then up to the Pu'u Hapapa Summit. Loads of fun but this isn't for kids. This route is definitely for the more adventurous and those who aren't bothered by heights or sheer drop offs. Some rock scaling is involved as well.Show more
