Aloha! I typically hike up 1-3 days a week and have been doing so almost 3 years now. Went up a few times last week and this past weekend. I will be going up again tomorrow on Tuesday and this weekend on the 27/28th as well. Possibly other weekdays too. The hike can be muddy and or rainy but we never have any issues as I always provide the proper gear (including microspikes) when we go. Make sure to bring plenty of water and food for this hike and other hikes out here in Hawaii. Feel free to reach out to me on instagram mike.karas or via email at mikekarasphotography@gmail.com.

This is an epic hike. I go up every weekend. Conditions were great last time I went, I will be going up this this weekend. It can get pretty muddy and windy. Crampons(spikes) recommended, I do have some spare spikes.

Nice trail with some decent elevation gain. Be warned though that if its rained recently you’re in for some fairly treacherous and mud slick conditions at the top. I was wearing trail running shoes and still found the mud and slippery tree roots a challenge. My wife who was wearing a pair of sneakers took a couple spills. Unfortunately it was foggy when we reached the top, but the sun broke through on our way down; views were fantastic. Would love to do this hike again in drier conditions.

This trail is awesome and would recommend to anyone. My and my family to include a 4 year old did it in 2:30 minutes and we had a great time.

A pleasant hike, a bit of mud in a couple of places, no waterfall but we did see where the waterfall would be in the right conditions. Definitely park at the beach, it took us (with 3 fit, active teenagers) approximately 1.5 hours from the beach car park including a couple of stops. Didn’t see anyone else on the track, would recommend going early in the day.

Quite steep. Wear proper shoes with grip. Absolutely astonishing views!

Geat short hike at this time of year, not slippery at all despite a wee bit of rain these past few nights. The views are well worth the uphill slog. 2nd Pillbox a bit harder to find but once there the views are spectacular!

Lots of people but the climb is well worth the view!

Challenging and a little scary at times, but so worth it. I would recommend going as early as possible to avoid being in the hot sun too much.

So many trails connect to each other around this area. Personally I hate having to walk on paved roads for lengthy portions of trails. It’s best to take a different route than this loop to get back to the start. All in all though it is friendly for all ages and four legged friends.

Looking to hike this trail with someone sometime during the days of May 14th - 16th. I already reached out to Michael Karas and he could walk the first hour but not the rest.

I'll be on vacation with my wife but she does not want to do this hike so I'm looking to hike with someone so I'm not hiking it alone. Feel free to reach out by email

Great hike. Muddy and lots of roots to step over and around. Fun pool at the end. Water feels great for a quick dip. There is a second waterfall if you climb up the rocks to the left side of the lower one.

This trail is hard but doable. Amazing views

Incredible views!

The tramline is a challenge but so worth the views!! I’d recommend a hydration pack and sunblock. Highly recommended trail!

This trail has some beautiful views but it really is a hard hike. I’m saying this as someone who hikes a lot and lives on Oahu. We went clock wise which I recommend not doing because of the rope portion up the ridge. Also try to do it on a dry day so going down is safer. The ridge itself can be a scary for those who are afraid of heights and are not sure of their footing because there are places where part of the narrow trail is washed away. We thought we would finish this in 4 hours and it took us about 5:30 with stops. Do wear long sleeves and pants if you can, there’s a lot of parts where the foliage is overgrown. Bring plenty of water and food and do not bring dogs on this hike.
