go early to avoid the sun

Well used path, cemented in some parts. Could do a running stroller with bigger tires.

Beautiful views. This trail I would say is more moderate than hard. Though rain and muddy conditions can make it slick. It is a very laid back and enjoyable trail. Cheers!

Think Stairmaster on steroids. Make sure you bring lots of water since the hike is very hot during the daytime. There are areas on the trail that are a little bit more difficult than others. But if you at the top are pretty incredible. Great for sunrises

Très beaux points de vue chemin asphalté facile d’accès prévoir crème solaire et eau pour tous

This hike is very difficult on the legs/calves/thighs; however anyone can make it to the top as long as they go at their own pace. I had to stop several times but made it up. The view is worth the hike and much cooler and windier up there. Take your time and enjoy the view at the top because the way down is quite hard as well. Bring water!!! Overall really cool hike, felt very accomplished at the end.

Very steep. The views are epic! Highly recommended. Park at Hanauma Bay before 8am to get a parking space. Cost $1 to park.

Great 17 trail system! Started from Kanealole left side up to Makiki tantalus trailhead and then down left and up to Nahuina tantalus trailhead (1 hr, 3mi) back down and took Makiki trail to Maunalaha trail back to Nature Center (total 6mi, 2.5hr). Has both muddy rainforest and nice woods

busy and easy... paved path all the way up

Easy! Just the one section where you have to step on very well spaced beams. The bypass is worse. Just do it!

I will be in Oahu 2/22 -3/6, looking for someone to do this hike sunrise with me! If you are adventurous, DM me on IG @omyogigurl

Nice day hike. Other hikers on trail but not crowded like some hikes on Oahu. Steps towards summit were slick due to moisture. Trekking poles help. Views on summit were cloud obscured but still worth the trip. All trails directions to trail head are wrong-private property. Need to start on other side of ridge line.

Great hike for families with young children. The trail is paved which makes it stroller friendly. Very popular trail which makes parking a pain but saw many cars parked on the shoulder along the road.

Awesome ! Not dog friendly unless he’s a beast. Some minor climbing, but fun ! End right outside the parking lot for the botanical garden :)

The trail definitely kicks your a** and makes it pretty obvious. At first glance from the bottom you think “that doesn’t look too bad”. The trail steadily increases incline all the way up to the top, I found venturing on the dirt at the side is a whole lot easier than climbing the rails imo. If you’re short you’ll be knees to chest on this one for a good 30min. Started this trail at 6am and made it with a lot of time to spare to watch the sunrise (which I highly recommend over any other time). Definitely worth waking up extra early for. Bring a convenient form of light I had portable inflatable lanterns which a lot of people were impressed with, highly recommend those. Not an easy hike at all, but a 360 degree view well worth it.

Short but steep hike!!!!! Great parking. No shade so take plenty of water. I’d recommend a hat and not to over dress. Trail can be slippery after rain. Some side trail if you don’t want to take the stairs all the way up. If you’re not in shape be sure you have extra time to spare. Can get really crowded in the mornings.

Great walk with the family and pet friendly. Paved path is wide and great to do if your other planned hikes are washed out by rain. Still a good uphill climb with great views. On the way down, the last lookout closest to the bottom has a small path not tracked by All Trails. It follows the remaining ridge line down to Pele’s Chair and was a lot of fun if you are looking for a little bit of adventure. It probably descents about 150 ft. To the shore level.

this hike was tough but it was do-able! the views the whole time are awesome and trail is always wide enough, npt dangerous. i highly recommend it
