Treacherous (we went the day after it rained, due to time constraints) but totally worth it. Beautiful views, several terrain changes, and a plenty of plenty of adrenaline.

Aloha! Cool hike. Minus the possible trouble. Hopefully they find a way to open the stairs up versus tearing them down. It’s a workout! Make sure to wear proper hiking/solid footwear. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Feel free to reach out to me on Instagram @mike.karas or my email mikekarasphotography@gmail.com for info or other questions. I’ve done most of the hikes on the island before. Also please pack out your trash! Too many litterbugs on the island sadly. Mahalo!

Aloha! Fun hike. Can be muddy like lots of the ridges out here on island. Definitely not a short one. Microspikes are nice to have. At minimum please wear proper hiking footwear and be prepared. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Feel free to reach out to me on Instagram @mike.karas or my email mikekarasphotography@gmail.com for info or other questions. Great 17 trail system! Started from Kanealole left side up to Makiki tantalus trailhead and then down left and up to Nahuina tantalus trailhead (1 hr, 3mi) back down and took Makiki trail to Maunalaha trail back to Nature Center (total 6mi, 2.5hr). Has both muddy rainforest and nice woods

Solo traveler here! Looking for hiking companions or to join an organized group this Thursday morning 2/20 preferably as early as possible. Feel free to reach out on IG @ccstuffington or directly message me 215-688-8504. Thanks!

Nice day hike. Other hikers on trail but not crowded like some hikes on Oahu. Steps towards summit were slick due to moisture. Trekking poles help. Views on summit were cloud obscured but still worth the trip. All trails directions to trail head are wrong-private property. Need to start on other side of ridge line.

Anyone wants to do this hike between 19th-20th? If interested, please message me on IG @blairsong_ Thxx

We did this trail today with our 3 and 5 year old kids. They did great although some parts were very muddy. The falls were on the left at the beginning of the trail when you walk towards the stream. Beautiful. The stream was a bit challenging to cross but mostly because of our kids and ensuring they didn’t fall or slip. We went straight ahead after the stream and did the loop, but I think it would have been better to do the loop starting to the right, right after the stream. A few reasons to start to the right: 1- the muddiest part is at the beginning and not at the end so less challenging if you are tired towards the end. Although my husband argues that we would have been muddy the whole loop if we had started there. 2- at one point there was a tree blocking the trail. It was confusing which direction we needed to go. We started going left but we followed the app and quickly figured out we were going off trail. There was a small path that went down to go around the tree. If you start the loop from the right, its more obvious where you need to go when you meet that tree. Overall we loved the trail. Beautiful trees. We only encountered a group of four women. It seemed like we had the whole trail to ourselves. Of note, we noted different spots with shattered glass on both sides of the road where people park. We assume cars were recently broken into... I wouldn’t leave any valuables in the car.

Good color this time of year on trail. nice view of city if you add the side trip to Nuuanu trail. Not a lot of hills but lots of roots and mud so watch your step.

I’m looking for a hiking buddy to do the hike before the 25th! I’ve been here for 2 years and done a ton of hikes but never got around to this one. Would love to do it before I move back to the mainland on the 25tg of February:) plz lmk if you would wanna do it with me!! My Instagram is kayla_greco

Hiked the trail on 2/16; trail was in decent condition. Muddy at times, but definitely hikable. Was hesitant to hike due to reviews I read. I don’t consider myself an experienced hiker and have an average fitness level. Did the hike in running shoes. Bring adequate water, snack and watch your step and you should be good!

Nice hike. Gets a little sketchy at the trail end (midway point) where you head up the ridge for a bit. On the backside was a nice surprise with small waterfalls and pools to swim in. Great way to end the hike. Not for kids if continuing along the ridge.

Did this trail with my wife, teenage son and nine year old daughter. Overall, it was a bit of a challenge for her with the muddy conditions but overall, a good challenge for non-hikers. Note we did wander off the trail twice due to overgrowth of the markings, but managed to find out way back. Would recommended and do again, for an hour long, shaded experience for novices.
