This is a very easy hike. All of it is improved unless you go out of bounds past the end of the trail. There are 2 ponds at the end of the unimproved portion which are not too difficult to get to. It is a photo opportunity for sure, but there are too many people. My wife was eating the wild fruit off the trees. She didn’t get sick so dig in!

This hike was absolutely the best we have ever been on. The hike is uphill continuously for approximately 2 miles. The views on both sides of the trail are spectacular. We got caught in some rain which is usual for Hawaii and it made the trail very slippery when coming down. We will definitely do this hike again on our next visit to Maui.

Various levels of fun. Some shade then sun as you get higher. Lots of switchbacks make it an easier climb.

One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on!! Views were amazing. Definitely get there early. The clouds will come in and block the view later in the morning.

Tried to do this on two different mornings with no luck. Dumping rain on the trail both mornings, first time we had to turn around 85% of way up because of the storm. Couldn’t see anything either time. Hopefully others have better luck !

Great workout, just need to start early in the morning (try to start by 8) due to the potential for extreme heat. No shade and extremely rocky. Spectacular views.

Indeed the official trail is Easy/ short (most of it is even seen from the trail head near the bathrooms)......... some areas paved. .......Definitely step over the four rock barrier at the base of the main trail and make your way along the river upstream either via unimproved path or the river bed to two soaking pools for a refreshing dip

Such a fun and beautiful hike!! A little challenging at parts where it gets pretty steep, but nothing someone cannot handle if you incorporate a break here and there. When we went it was very foggy at the top unfortunately, but the beautiful greenery around us made up for it!! Careful though, it was very slippery and muddy from all of the moisture around us, I fell more than once!!

I loved this hike. It was beautiful. We only did about 2 of the 4 miles because we went with our 11 and 9 year old. The hike up the paved path in the beginning was a difficult start and I had to convince them to just give the trail a chance to open up to something better. It got much better after that, but could not convince them to go on to the very end. The views were awesome. Walking through the forest and then emerging to see the stunning views was awe inspiring. Wish we could have made it through the entire hike.

Whew! That was awesome and crazy. Trekking poles make this hike way easier, but it’s still reasonably challenging. Would not make this hike after or during a rainy day. The stream crossings would be too treacherous. Took the advice of wearing hiking sandals without socks and don’t regret it at all. The waterfall at the end is amazing and totally worth the trek. If you don’t like getting wet, pick another hike. It’s beautiful but it could be a nightmare if you aren’t prepared or sure footed!

Nice break from the winding road after Olivine Pools. We opted to not do 13 crossings and went for this hike instead. Fabulous short hike down to a couple smaller waterfalls and swimming holes. We went on a Thursday morning and had the entire place to ourselves.

WE LOVED THIS HIKE!! Such breathtaking views all the way up. Great short hike with an amazing reward. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants a ridge hike.

Beautiful! I wish we had more time to explore this area! The drive was spectacular. It rained for us. Bring appropriate clothes!

Beautiful hike, about 2 hours round trip. Breath-taking views of natural beauty make the climb totally worth it. Recommend arriving by 8/9 am. We left at 8:15 and when we got back down to our car at 10am the top parking lot was completely full.

Fun trail. At the end is a beautiful view of the wall of tears.

Breathtaking! Be careful! Mother Nature is ever changing and can sweep you away!

Uphill the entire way, breathtaking views, partially shaded. The first paved hill was the hardest

Great hike! Great views!! But moderate??? Wow!!!

One of the best I’ve done outside of my home state of Colorado! Breathtaking views. We waited until it had been sunny a few days after the weekend rain. Still some mud but no sliding. Definitely steep since it’s basically 800ft of gain to each mile. You can get up and down it fast but we took our time. I’d plan 2-2.5 hours if you’re in reasonable shape but want to stop to take photos.

There are countless views throughout the hike that are remarkable. But getting to the top is so worth the hike. Not very easy, but definitely would do it again.

Starts in a cow pasture! Then quickly changes to guava, Norfolk, and eucalyptus grove. This fades away to mostly shrubs and ferns - so very little sun protection for a good portion of the trail. A little muddy after a rain the night before, but quite manageable. Spectacular views of the chiseled landscape on both sides of the ridge. Hike took about 2:30 round trip at a semi-leisurely rate.

short hike with massive 360 views at the end! an hour each way - very muddy (i went the day after it rained) but so worth it! tevas are the way to go - do not wear sneakers. parking was $5. i got there at 8am (entrance opens at 7am) was a bit cloudier than i wanted but it was nice to have it to myself. the crowds came on my way down.

only 5 stars if you keep going! cross the barrier and do the unofficial hike - it’s an hour each way and ends in 360 views. muddy - wear tevas! parking is $5.

had to try twice due to zero visibility in the morning. we went into town, watched the surfers and had lunch, then returned and completed the hike. absolutely stunning and well worth the return trip. clear trail and easy to follow. if you get to the top and it's cloudy, wait a little to see if the fog will lift. it usually does if there isn't too much of it.
