Great trail. Wear shoes not flip flops.

The amazing views made the trip up well worth it. Kids went up faster than we did, almost running at times. Great sense of accomplishment when you make it up.

easy ridge trail

Great hike! Like others have said, please bring some sort of shoes or hiking shoes. Brought our 3 kids ( ages 9,11,and 12) whom did a great job on the trail. Bring water and a snack.

Definitely a must! Did it within 5 hours and a half, including some stops. Use sunscreen if you do not want to look like me right now. The loop offers a great amount of breathtaking landscapes.

Amazing spot for snorkeling, just like Honula Bay and Kapalua Bay were years ago. Coral and sealife in all its glory. Please respect the coral gardens and ocean life by wearing reef safe sunscreen and DO NOT STAND on the coral or take it!!! View it, respect it so many others can enjoy its beauty as well.

Such a worthwhile hike! We have two kids, boy who is 7years old and daughter who is 10years and they managed the hike no problem. We arrived after the morning rush was leaving, around 1100am and found a spot in the lot closest to the trail entrance. It was a little slick with mud, but a walking stick helped greatly. You can grab a stick left behind by other hikers too. Views are outstanding. Bring water, and food for the top - kids were hungry after hiking all the way up.

connects to kaupo gap for a long 2 shuttle trip.

This trail begins at LaPeruse Bay. There are a few picturesque, shady spots but mostly it is a hot trek over dried lava. Wear a hat and proper shoes and bring enough water for the miles you plan to go. The peninsula offers spectacular 360° vistas of the southern coastline and backside of Haleakala.

This is basically the walk from the parking lot to Little Beach. Little Beach is secluded and small but really not that interesting unless you are looking for a line-less tan. Makena Beach has better snorkeling and a much prettier view.

Beautiful walk, fun river crossing, gorgeous falls. Super easy, can’t understand why it’s rated moderate other than the river crossing. Good stop to stretch your legs on the way to Hana

Great hike! Plenty of shade. Park at the ridge trailhead lot and walk or park along the road. Trail starts where river runs under the road. You will see a sign but it doesn't state "hike". Muddy but lots of chances to rinse in the stream. When the river forks go RIGHT. About 1/4 mile of walking IN the river (no clear trail on banks) gets you around the bend to the falls. 2 hours total if you play in the falls. Saw ppl of all ages and skill levels. The river is slow wear water shoes and just walk in!

Easy trail. Beautiful views. Exposed to the sea.

awesome views. be prepared with water and proper footwear! older lady sprained her wrist, hit her head, and cut her knee this morning. probably wasn't paying attention but worth the thought of being sure on your feet for the loose rock.

I have yet to do this trail but wanted to know if anyone could give any advice. I'm travelling with my 2 year son. Would this be okay for a BOB trail jogger or recommended Osprey Hiking backpack? Thanks

Nice trail !

Venus Pools is an awesome little spot on that side of the island. It doesn't take long to get to the pools themselves. Make sure you park past the line on the road so not to block traffic on the road.

Love, love, love this trail! It was so pretty and so easy! We went at dusk so we were there while the sun set, which was beautiful. Really enjoyed the scenery and thought it was beautiful.

Really interesting hike past the black sand beach. This was probably our favorite hike in Maui. Easy trail to follow through volcanic rock. We were the only ones on the trail the day we completed it. Proper shoes should be worn. Worth the hike. Views are fantastic.

We did this hike from the second trailhead. This is an interesting hike through volcanic rock. Proper shoes should be worn. This a fairly straightforward hike and would be recommended for people of all ages. The blowhole at the end is worth the trip.

Trail was okay for Maui, but fails in comparison to other hikes on the mainland. Bamboo forests were cool and the trail is well marked, but waterfall at the end is disappointing.

Nice for sunset. Goes to the nude beach, if that is something that could shock you

Nice around sunset. You should know there is a nude beach (seems to shock people around here...)

I did the whole trail from east to west (and back). The west part (NOT this one) is the nicest - probably not worth doing the east side. The trail is easy to follow, mostly mild incline. Also, not hard, more like moderate!
