Overall incredible experience with breathtaking views. Did the full loop clockwise starting at Nu’alolo trailhead and ended up walking back along the road from the Awa’awapuhi trailhead in the afternoon, which was downhill and not bad at all. The whole loop took us a little over 6 hours and we went at a pretty comfortable pace. Recommend starting early in the day. The Nu’alolo Cliff trail is a little overgrown at parts with some downed trees, but we felt safe and could follow the trail the whole way without much difficulty. Highly recommend!

Tried to do this on two different mornings with no luck. Dumping rain on the trail both mornings, first time we had to turn around 85% of way up because of the storm. Couldn’t see anything either time. Hopefully others have better luck !

Highly recommended this hike. Challenging for a couple of 50 somethings that are sometime hikers but well worth the effort in the end. Hardest part is the return trip. Lots of up and the first part with little shade. Would not recommend this hike after rain!

Too slippery this mornin'. Maybe next time.

Such a fun and beautiful hike!! A little challenging at parts where it gets pretty steep, but nothing someone cannot handle if you incorporate a break here and there. When we went it was very foggy at the top unfortunately, but the beautiful greenery around us made up for it!! Careful though, it was very slippery and muddy from all of the moisture around us, I fell more than once!!

Good workout, rain or shine

I love this trail! I have done it a few times now. It’s quick, but steep in some areas. There is usually a lot of people on the trail. Always really pretty to catch sunrise. Definitely try to get there earlier than later as parking can be a pain in the area. As for any trails on the island, make sure you bring plenty of water!

Yes, it is absolutely worth it. We got to the trail head at 8:45 am, made it to the point at 11:30, headed back at 12:00 and made it back to the car by 2:00 Here is what you need to know, from a gym goer but not entirely hike experienced person: 1. Wear hiking shoes. I did it in gym shoes but would not do it again in them. The trail was significantly drier on the way back but I did slip on the way down. 2. We made better time on the way back because the trail was drier but it is HARD going in several areas due to the steep incline. 3. Use the hiking sticks at the trail head. We met a couple people along the way who regretted not grabbing one. It definitely helped me. Beautiful view at the point. Well worth the hike back up!

It was fun and really nice views. The trail gets fun after you pass the pigs gate. Take plenty of water and snacks and finish the trail, its worth it.

I loved this hike. It was beautiful. We only did about 2 of the 4 miles because we went with our 11 and 9 year old. The hike up the paved path in the beginning was a difficult start and I had to convince them to just give the trail a chance to open up to something better. It got much better after that, but could not convince them to go on to the very end. The views were awesome. Walking through the forest and then emerging to see the stunning views was awe inspiring. Wish we could have made it through the entire hike.

Loved this trail, no views but the wooded surroundings are filled with bird song. Very soothing. Nice wide trail, watch your step not to fall on fallen branches etc. would definitely do it again if I lived here!

Only hiked up to the picnic table before turning around. Great views of the shoreline before you reach the top.

A lot of switchbacks on a rocky trail. Beautiful views the entire way! Kids made it too.

Beautiful hike, about 2 hours round trip. Breath-taking views of natural beauty make the climb totally worth it. Recommend arriving by 8/9 am. We left at 8:15 and when we got back down to our car at 10am the top parking lot was completely full.

We lost our bird on this trail, if you find a green bird please call 808-772-6818. It was a green cheek conure. We lost him on May 11, 2019.

Fun trail. At the end is a beautiful view of the wall of tears.

If you do the loop then you get to enjoy a small waterfall as a bonus :) the connection doesn’t seem to be maintained, fallen trees on the path. Amazing views if you are lucky with the fog.

Easy hike but NO SHADE and SUPER HOT, and all up hill! Dogs DIE on this trail so often that there are warning signs posted on the local vet bulletin boards. Even with plenty of water, dogs die of dehydration. Beautiful views at the top of the pillboxes, and a very popular trail simply because it is so physically easy and so short, but really a waste of time if you ask me. The hike itself is not much fun, only the views at the end; but with so many awesome hikes with comparable views all over the island, this one is simply not worth it.

Super muddy, calf deep in many places. Slipped and slides the whole time. The waterfall was beautiful, pool was not clear—dark and cloudy water. It was also very crowded and difficult to enjoy swimming in the pool.

The trail has 3 sections: the first part has a lot of unshaded uphill switchbacks with views of Dillingham airfield. The second section has a lot of ups and downs along dusty jeep tracks and is bordered by trees with a soft peeling bark. The third, past the fence into Kuaokala forest reserve, has amazing scenery and ends at some boulders used as a viewpoint. It's definitely worth going to the end for the amazing views. We also saw wild pigs along the way. It took us 5 hours and 20 minutes for the whole hike and back, but we stopped frequently for geocaching.

This loop trail was an amazing hike with lots of breathtaking views. I recommend to start the tour before 9 o’clock, because the chance for a great view is higher in the morning.

Uphill the entire way, breathtaking views, partially shaded. The first paved hill was the hardest
