Nice leisurely walk, lots of friendly stray cats.

Nice beach walk, not to busy

fun hike, but tough to run given the trail conditions.. even though, I fully enjoyed the park.

This was my first trail in the island and still love to come. easy and short or long as you prefer, many hidden beaches where relax no one around. Bring water cover shoes and spf. enjoy!

While not a hike, it is a great path for walking or jogging far enough from homes and close enough to the ocean to get good exercise and rejuvenate the spirit.

The single trail is really nice and fun to hike. It’s also nice and cool. It would be easy to get off course without the map.

Not really a trail. It’s a gravel road if anything. Most would drive down. Take the path thru the lava rocks on the right and walk to Makalawena instead.

This was an easy little hike through a cool cloud forest/ jungle-y area. There are several trails that intersect and could throw you off your planned loop so you’ll definitely want to have your map handy (although you’ll figure out relatively quickly if you’re headed the wrong way because you’ll either hit an atv road or run out of trail and you can just turn around). Surprisingly not too buggy although a little muddy so I wouldn’t recommend going too soon after a rain.

Not too bad for a short hike. Nice and cool in the morning. A little muddy.

A beautiful walk along the beach. The sunset is beautiful. Made running without difficulty.

It’s a nice hike down from the road. At the bottom you can also choose to walk up the big red hill and get a beautiful 360 view from up on top. Definitely worth the hike. The beach is gorgeous!

I thoroughly enjoyed this trail. A little of everything from woods to beach to lava fields

Even though it is LONG and HOT, i would absolutely recommend. I actually reversed it and began at Kua Bay, snorkeling is great there early AM. This way I could park my car right along the road by the trailhead in the gravel and eliminate about 1 mile of the walk as well as the walk into Mahai’ula! It’s true that the rocky part between Kua and the private beaches is boring, but the rest is very interesting and payoff great. Snorkeling is good at every spot. BRING EXTRA WATER. You will need more than 1 bottle.

Lovely way to see what The Big Island has to offer without being too hot or buggy.

Beautiful beach without a lot of people. Bring flip flops because the sand will burn your feet.

Nice hike to the beach. We parked up top and walked down the road.

Not really a hike - more of a long walk to the beach. The last half mile was washed out loose lava boulders. Did see a turtle that was hanging on the beach.
