Muddy but worth it! Rent a kayak- most places will explain the river and where the trail begins. There will be tons of kayaks at the area you need to get out to hike so you really can't miss it. You do trek through the river several times so wear something you don't mind ruining. Take your time in the muddy areas. The waterfall is AMAZING. You will not regret this hike it was a great one!

Lots of mud...highly recommend hiking poles to prevent a slip and fall into mud. Great reward at end of trail with beautiful falls you can swim in. We went at end of day 3pm-ish and as a result avoided the tour mobs.

Amazing views at the top. We kayaked over it was pretty quick. We had water shoes and we were just fine. The trail was not super obvious but there’s multiple ways up/down. The water was clear and beautiful ! This is a must do here in Oahu!

Just used it to add in some extra mileage during my run. Easy running, access to different parts of the beach along the way.

a moderate hike made more difficult by muddy terrain sandwiched between calm kayak trips. the reward is a beautiful waterfall, lush forest and amazing sights.

You kayak about 2 miles up river. Hike a mile through massive mud. A few river like crossings and then the falls are absolutely beautiful. High traffic. Many tour groups. The mud was deep! But it was worth it! I would have given 5 stars except for the high traffic of your groups.

Wear closed shoes as boggy in places. Interesting to learn about the dam. Nice morning with shade.

Spitting Caves is about 10 mins away from Koko Head, so for anyone in a time crunch and wants to bunch a few scenic points in a few hours, don’t forget this stop. Access to this point is through Lumahai St., where street parking is available and where the trail can be found between houses. Within a few steps, you get a magnificent view of the clear blue water and if your fortunate enough to see it actively “spit” water, you’ll understand the appeal to this point. On a side noted for those with mobility issues, please note that the trail is relatively steep and narrow. Just want to give a heads up to avoid disappointment.

Beautiful bird sanctuary. Beautiful views of the mountains!

Great opportunity to combine kayaking with a short and flat (albeit rocky and slippery) hike to a beautiful waterfall. It is extremely muddy so Keen’s or something similar are best. Only downside is that the number of tour groups is high making it a slow walk with difficulty setting your own pace.

Rented a kayak from Kayak Kauai. They give you a map and everything you need to know. Kayak up the river 2 miles and hike in another mile. Plenty of people are doing it so you can’t get lost. The trail is extremely muddy. Hike in water shoes or sandals. The water fall is beautiful. Drops into a shallow pool. Take a swim out and stand underneath.

Parking is strange as you are basically in a neighborhood with multimillion dollar homes everywhere and near the end of the street on the right side you will see a sign that looks totally out of place designating the short trail leading down to the spitting caves. The trail itself is brief but steep! Be careful as it can be slick after a rain! Once out on the rocks/cliff side, the views of the bay and Diamond Head are absolutely beautiful! Great for photography, sunrises, and sunsets! There is also an area where you can cliff jump off to the right of the entrance but do so at your risk. People have died here doing this. A slip on the rocks or drowning in the surf below are both real dangers. The waves crashing below are awesome to watch! Beautiful scenery!

The actual trail is actually only 2 miles there 2 miles back the extra amount is the trip up the river you have to take to get there. We took kayaks and it was amazing. The trail is overpopulated and muddy but it's very flat and easy to do for just about everyone.

This is a MUST DO while in Oahu! The views are breathtaking! We kayaked out and climbed up. I would recommend wearing water shoes and bug spray

Kayaking, cliff jumping, a beautiful waterfall and a nice short hike. What more could you ask for?

Wahiawa hill trail is an easy hike featuring beautiful wild flowers and native plants. We did the hike clockwise, there is no physical difficulties but it’s very easy to get lost. There are many paths that would lead you to different trails so make sure to keep your gps nearby. There is no service coverage on the hike, and it seems that a lot of people get lost around that area so pay attention of your surroundings. I would recommend to do the hike counter clockwise. The scenery is more beautiful in that direction.

Not the easiest in slippers. If you can bring your shoes across, it will be more manageable. Great views of the Kualoa range.

short walk down to rocks where you can feel the acoustics of a partially submerged cave... sit in the right place and you can watch it spit. parking is a little awkward. there will probably be other people there but not many. chill little spot. oh and the walk down can be quite slippery.

Beautiful hike but so many tourists. Go early Wailua kayak and canoe opens at 7am $55 a person for 5 hours.
