Aloha! I typically hike up 1-3 days a week and have been doing so almost 3 years now. Went up a few times last week and this weekend as well. I will be going up again a few times this week. I have done this particular hike more than most on island. (over 140+ times) The hike can be muddy and or rainy but we never have any issues as I always provide the proper gear (including microspikes) when we go. Make sure to bring plenty of water and food for this hike and other hikes out here in Hawaii. Feel free to reach out to me on instagram mike.karas or via email at mikekarasphotography@gmail.com.

Hi All,

Anyone hiking Haiku Stairs week of April 11th-17th?

I have yet to decide the day, but flexible. From Vancouver, BC. First time in Hawaii, but not my first hike. :)

This is an epic hike, specially taking the legal back way. I go up almost every weekend. Conditions were near perfect last Saturday, I will be going up this Sunday March 31st and April 6th. It can get pretty muddy and windy. Crampons(spikes) recommended, I do have some spare spikes.

Great trail. Wear shoes not flip flops.Take the time to hike to the left, past the beach. Really cool foliage and great views back to the bay from the cliffs.

Amazing hike! Beware: slippery after the rain!! Wonderful view st the end of the canyon and if you dare, the waterfall!!

Great hike and definitely worth the intense hike up. The views were worth it I promise!!! You must do this hike up to the peak just past the stairs for paradise! Enjoy!!

The trail is super muddy but totally worth the investment. Get to the trailhead around 6:30am and you’ll have the trail to yourself awhile. Lots of sticks still available at trailhead.

Once you are back to hwy 50, you may consider a trip to the end of the road beach, Polihale, for an easy way to clean off. This may just be the best beach in all of Kaua’i.

This was awesome. The hike from where you park your car gets you warmed up suggest getting there early because it’s street parking only. Lots of different terrain, dirt, traversing, steps, tree roots but beautiful. The view at the top breathtaking. Will definitely do again. :)

Very easy even on a rainy afternoon! A little muddy but beautiful hiking through the forest. Couldn’t get all the way due to April ‘18 rains that washed out the end of trail to dam but a nice easy hike

There’s no marked trail. I would suggest going with someone who’s been before. Wear bug spray. Wear a swim suit cuz you just gotta jump in. It is a closed trail so make sure you are a strong climber. If it’s been raining which it is always rainy in Kauai, and you aren’t great with scrambling on your hands and knees in the mud, don’t go.

my favorite off the beaten path hike.

Hiked March 2019,
It was a pretty moderate hike just like the app said. The actual trail goes off in a different direction than the falls so be sure to follow the app, not the signs.
If you want an interesting falls photo, be sure to go after a decent rain fall, otherwise you’re just going to hike to a giant mud puddle deep in the woods.
It’s pretty dog friendly and fun to do on a moderately cool day.

Lovely hike, but by no means secluded. Lots of turtles and gorgeous views.

This trail was great for a choose your own adventure selection. My day started off hugging the coast and exploring close to the water when it was safe. On the way back I chose the route that goes a little more inland, and enjoyed the shade of the trees, as well as many birds chirping.

Views are well worth the hike.

Majestic views on the ridge. Foggy at 8am. Wind picks up and clears up the clouds on the way down. Took us 55min to make it to the top. 2 hours in total.

Fantastic short walk with a beautiful view the entire length. Only detractor is the number of other hikers, many in flip flops and Crocs. It is steep and rocky, and I was nervous watching several families scramble up and down the terrain. Go early to avoid the crowds.

short but intense. trail was dry today so no need spikes, didn't slip at all.

Great views!

We loved this experience so much. Wear shoes adequate for moderately steep climb and loose rocks.

Enjoyed this hike! The rock formations are stunning. Blowhole is fun. Ocean cliff views are stunning! Very rocky so definitely wear runners and not flip flops.
