Nice hike - was great fun to roast marshmallows at the end and visit a store midway through the hike. Oranges topped with crushed pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and chili are sold midway through the hike as well.

If you haven’t hiked much lately the incline is a bit much - my advice is to just take it slow, because our group of somewhat inexperienced hikers did fine. Took about 4.5 hours round trip.

The rock and ash were really slippery at points - I’m glad I got a walking stick (something I wouldn’t typically use) and glad I had hiking boots.

Awesome hike, you see lava from 1km.

not very hard, nice views

Don’t expect to see fiery lava, but still an amazing hike! Not every day you get to hike up an active volcano and see smoke and rocks flying up and hear the rumbling in the distance! You can’t get near the crater because it is unsafe, but you will see some amazing lava flows and can do the touristy marshmallow roast! On the way if it’s a clear day you will have excellent views of three other volcanos, Agua, Fuego, and Acantenago. A short, relatively easy hike with the option of going on horseback also.
