Stagiates is a village close to the city of Volos with a free parking lot available and a net of trails starting from its main square. This loop trail offers a great way to enjoy walking through the picturesque villages of Makrinitsa and Koukourava with their unique architectural design. The trail is easy in its first section on the way down to Megarema creek and gets moderate as it goes up to the main square of Makrinitsa. You can have a break there, rest for a while and then follow the trail though the village which leads to the Megarema creek again and back to the trailhead in Stayates main square. There are many view points along the trail so take a camera with you.Show more
#7 - Πήλιο: Νταμούχαρη-Μούρεσι Damouchari-Mouresi

A circular walk to go from Mouresi square to Damouchari beach and return. Walk on the asphalt from the square to get to Ai Giannis-Damouchari and follow it downhill for 200m, then turn right onto calderimi and follow signs and red marks. From Damouchari walk again on the asphalt uphill until you see on the left a small sign to "Mouresi". Another option is to go from Damouchari to Ai Giannis beach and then follow the calderimi to Mouresi (see routes Kissos-Mouresi-Ai Giannis and Tsangarada-Damouchari-Ai Giannis). Very nice route, with enough cobbled streets. From Mouresi Square we head down to Damouchari and we can go back from another route by circling. From the square we walk to the asphalt, and at the junction we follow the asphalt road to Ai Yannis and descend until we find the sign to the right that puts us in the cobbled streets. Returning from Damouchari, we first go back to the asphalt up and a little more to the left we find a new sign to Mouresi. Another choice from Damouchari is to go to Ai Yannis and then climb the cobbled path to Mouresi (see the Tsangarada-Damouchari-Ai Yannis and Kissos-Mouresi-Ai Yannis)Show more

Starting from the Byzantine chapel of Agios Nikolaos near Kanalia, we ascend to the ancient road connecting the area of Lake Karla with the sea, which has sections of cobbled streets and a stone arched bridge in Kakorema. Approaching near the village of Kapourna (or Glafyra), we change direction to the north and follow the old path that goes to Kato Kerasia. Clear running time 2.5 hours, total with stops 3-3.5 hours.Show more
