a great route but you plan at sunrise about 2 hours :)

A nice moderate circular trail. Starting in Vlachokerasia village. About 1.5 hours passing through beautiful mountainous Pine trees forest. About 2.5 hours walking down a local river, about 1 hour going up back to the outscart of the village and another half an hour to the village's center. We had to tackle to chalenges: 1. Clouds of gnats (little mosquitoes) in several locations along the river. 2. Wild pack of dogs - this was a serious challenge they tried to attack us (we where 3 they where 8 medium sized dogs), but we managed to frithened them.

That trail was certainly suggested by a jogger. One treks a very wide road in what appears to be an estate development that was put to a halt. Forget about that trail. From the starting point on the west side, there is a real trail in a pinewood sometimes following a river that has nothing to do with the current proposed trail.

I would recommend this trail for sure. The mountain does look a bit intimidating when you walk towards it from the refugee. The first meters consisted of small rubble and requires your attention all the time not to slip. There were three points where we thought to retreat since the descent might be too slippery going back. Yet... We pushed through to the top. No equipment needed just some light easy climbing here and there. They payoff was great, we enjoyed the view a lot and the feeling of accomplishment. One thing we realized on the descent is that..”if you can go up, you can go down again.” The descent was doable, and almost meditative, as the only thing you were paying attention to is the next sturdy rock to step on. It helped a lot that we had some sticks from the forest. So we were using them as extended limbs. Took us about 2 hrs to go up and 1 hr to go down. We did it together with the Steni forest which was total 7 hours.

A lot of wind and nice slopes. No marked trail but a magnificent view at the top

Poor marking of the rout.

From the shelter, it took us about 2 hours to get to the top of the mountain, and about 1 hour to come back down. No special equipment (ropes) is required, however there are a few spots you have to use your arms to keep balance. The slope is pretty steep, some loose gravel, so you should have a good balance. There were a few snow spots on the way up, but none were on the trail.

Great place to be in the forest

Zervadi manages to bring together the beauty of wild and virgin nature of phokis protected from tourism and the suitability for all ages. We had a very good timing walking there feeling at ease with nature, relaxing our minds and working on our cardio. Overall, it was a great experience perfect for the average people who seeks a gateway out of busy cities
