#1 - Himmelreichweg Geopfad über Rudelsburg Burg Saaleck und Himmelreich
Naumburg, Saxony-Anhalt, GermanyLength: 6.1 mi • Est. 3 h 4 m
This route is located in Saxony Anhalt and starts at the train station in Bad Kösen. There are often parking spaces there. This hike leads to Rudelsburg and Saaleck Castle.
The hike begins at the train station in Bad Kösen. From there you can walk to the Loreley promenade. You then continue along the Saale to the Johannis spring. Here you can turn towards Saaleauen and continue to the campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, turn left into the forest. From there you can see a staircase that leads to the Rudelsburg.
The path then leads to Saaleck Castle, which is also worth a visit. If you want, you can hike on a small path instead of the asphalt road. To do this, cross the bridge, then turn left and follow the lower hiking trail immediately to the right (signs: Saaleck). In this way you can also reach the road just before the castle.
On the way back, follow the Kastellstraße through the village of Saaleck and cross the river to the left. After crossing the river, turn right to Stendorf. You then go through the small village and follow the Bergstrasse and Waldstrasse again in the direction of Bad Kösen. You stay on the Waldstraße until it flows into the Saale and turn left onto Thüringer Straße in the direction of Lengefeld. At the level crossing you follow the course of the Saale to the right and you get to the Rudelsburgpromenade and along the tracks on the Bahnhofstrasse to the bridge over the Saale.
