Length: 24 mi • Est. Multi-day
This trail in the Ahr Valley, an area famous for its red wines, is one of Germany's most popular. Its winding path through old ruins and vineyards make it a magical journey. Pass through lush forests and charming villages where you can stop for a glass of wine. Red grapes painted on posts guide the way. The best time to visit is after harvest season, particularly in winter, when the crowds are gone. Show more

Length: 5 mi • Est. 2 h 41 m
The legend about "The Devil's Hole" states that the devil once visited the valley of the Ahr and liked so much the red wine there, that he forgot his way home. One day, as he rested on the mountain opposite the Are Are Castle, his grandmother approached him in the form of a beautiful maiden. In the arms of the devil in love, she quickly transformed back into the all too well-known, disgusting old woman. He grabbed the grandmother angrily and flung her back down the cliff to hell. That's how Teufelsloch came to be, which can still be seen above Altenahr. This hike leads through the scenic Ahr valley along varied hiking trails.Show more
