The starting point is the bus stop St. Märgen Post or alternatively the trail car park Wagensteigstraße 19 at the edge of the village of St. Märgen. From there you walk on the Lärchenhof at Ohmenberg 1, where the dear donkey Luzi is already waiting for you. There you can pick up the donkey, like to clean and ready for the hike. There are also luggage bags that can be tied to the donkey's back. Then it starts, because the mountain is already waiting and Luzi is certainly already looking forward. You walk past the monastery church through the village, turn left past the restaurant to Hirschen in the direction of Kapfenkapelle / St. Peter. If you come from the village, you will be rewarded with the first great view of the Feldberg, Freiburg and the Vosges. Then turn left, overlooking the Rankhofmühle (a historic Black Forest house), past a Wassertretstelle with barbecue and a small playground on the Kapfenkapelle (memorial). From there you can run back or if you still feel like it and Luzi is still in a good mood and strength, continue running. At the next junction turn right towards Plattenhof (restaurant) with reservoir. On the left you have a great view of the Kandel. From there it goes back a short distance the same way back to Potsdamer Platz (Wanderparkplatz) and via the Vogesenkapelle (cultural monument) back towards St. Märgen. You come back from there by the Kapfenkapelle, but then runs straight out and not to the bottom right. On the way back you can walk on mountain bike trail, riding arena, sports field, natural outdoor pool and children's playground with Finnbahn and refuge and at the village pond with another Wassertretstelle over. After you have brought Luzi home safely, a stop in one of the village restaurants / cafes is possible, for example, the golden crown, this is a country women's cafe in a more than 100-year-old historic building. The bus stop "Post St. Märgen" is only max. 10 minutes walk away. There are also some restaurants, a tourist info, grocery stores (Black Forest Landmark, a bakery and butcher) and also a farmers shop, which is only open on Fridays.Show more
