The start is given at the top of the Mamaia housing estate, on the edge of the forest, to attack the first undergrowth of Caribbean pine trees. Little by little, the pines are more rare to give way to the typical vegetation of the high hills of Tahiti. Make a small stop at the end of three quarters of an hour to the old fa'apu, today abandoned, of the Green Peak. Quickly, enter the rainforest where the trail becomes more slippery. Less than an hour later, arrive at the top ridge where the old rain gauge located at 1080 m reaches us, 60 m higher. This climb is very steep. Shortly afterwards at the first summit, contemplating the view that extends below, from Punaauia to Venus Point in Mahina. In the distance, Tetiaroa comes out of its torpor. And here you are already attacking the ferns. This section remains rather delicate because of the density of the vegetation. Arrive at the famous "hunters' tarp". Continue on the next ridge, while others prefer to rest before attacking the descent. 40 minutes later, arrive at the end of a first steep ridge from where the panorama is sublime. In front, the Diadem, on the right the antennas of Mont Marau, and below, on the left, the cascades of the Fautaua and the imposing plateau in front of the Diadem.Show more
