Awesome experience. The trail is generally well marked and maintained. Some of the steep down parts are terrible but overall quite good. Enough gites for averaging 20 kilometers per day. Conques was fantastic, mostly because of the Abbaye and evening organ concert. I walked from Le Puy to Moissac in about 21 days. Every day was different, every day was hard, every day was fantastic.

top spot

Easy walk with beautiful views
Great for a picnic and a run

Once you find the trailhead sign, it’s very easy to stay on the trail. We only hiked up to the vista point (another wood sign about 500-600 feet vertically from base). Almost all switchbacks to get there and very high gradient hiking. It was wet from rain earlier in the day and we were able to make it up with our slipping. You can see the whole valley at the vista, very cool view. It rained on our way down, so we took our time as slipping on the way down was a concern. Very accessible and easy hike if you only go up to the vista, the whole loop looks much more difficult. Took about 25 minutes to get to vista from base. Not recommended for children or people not fit for very steep climb.

There are two factors making this different from trails in the US: villages and gites. The trail passes through rural farms and picturesque villages which appear little changed from the Middle Ages. In the end near Le Puy you will meet more cows than people. The lodging for hikers is the gite, in which hikers stay in dormitories or private rooms, sometimes quite small and sometimes quite large. Most provide dinner and breakfast (Demi-pension) for a fee, a bed and food together averaging about €38 per night. Long dinners with other hikers and copious amounts of local wine and food make this experience extraordinary. As this is a pilgrimage trail, most hikers carry a credential and the symbol of the Camino, a scallop shell.

Interesting stop on way up or down from Mont Blanc on Aig du Midi. Easy trail, but scree and large boulders along the side of the route and at the end a bit more difficult. Nice pond at the end. Enjoyable.

Take your time on this trail and the views are amazing.

Beau paysage après une montée un peu raide mais courte.

Difficult but definitely recommended but for someone who is in good condition.

Christmas hike in 2014, when there wasn't any snow in the French Alps. Hike starts from the Samoens village. Very little used, we saw only one person. Don't go alone as it might take a while to be found and helped . Stunning views on the village, Samoens peak, and Mont-Blanc in the distance. First half is forest then it becomes more rocky. 4 Hours round-trip for two guys.

Fait à partir du stationnement du Bettex. Il est aussi possible de prendre le téléphérique et de se rendre au premier sommet, ce qui réduit considérablement la distance.

perfect views awesome

Really nice hike. I would recommend taking 12 days for relaxed hiking and one spare day. No need to pack a lot of food as there are many possibilities to buy food along the way. A lot of elevation sets this trail apart from other hikes in Europe (unsurprisingly, it's in the alps). It's exhausting but worth the effort. Beautiful alpine scenery, some snow and cozy refuges. Great hike!

As good as it gets. Amazing views everywhere you look. Would do again in a heartbeat.

The food, the views, the people and the culture made this trip one I would do every year if I could. I highly recommend doing it anti-clockwise, and if you have the gear, camp it instead of staying in refuges. Camping offers you more privacy, better sleep and a more flexible schedule. If you do camp, map out the official campgrounds to stay at, especially in Italy.

Amazing experience. I highly recommend it! I didn’t want to come home after completing the hike.

Awesome trail up. Not enough time to finish the loop. Will do it again leaving earlier.

Nice views from the rim. involves some minor climbing, what makes more interesting.

This was an amazing hike! The views every day were fabulous. Our Trek was an REI Adventure. We had two guides and a driver. Our support team took care of all the logistics so all we had to do was enjoy the hike. We hiked 8 to 10 miles a day. Elevation gain was in the 2500 to 3000 ft range each day with one 4000 ft day. The climbs were very steep at times so be sure to be in shape if you plan to try this trek! It is an adventure of a lifetime!

More of a workout than a scenic mountain hike. Steep ascent and descent through forest - fairly monotonous. But where views are possible very beautiful.

Great loop trail with some fun scrambly bits and a nice cave along the way

on Mount Veyrier

Beautiful views at the peak, but not much to see during the hike itself; Great hike if you’re in the area and want cardio with a view

A wonderful trail that runs along portions of the TMB. Plenty to see...waterfalls, livestock, and a lake at the summit. beautiful views and places to stop for lunch/beer. The second half of the trek in is above treelike bring sunscreen.

Très beau points de vue !

Spectacular day hiking here toward mer du glace.

First whole day in Chamonix and we picked a winner of a day to hike. Bluebird skies and nice temps. Constantly looking at Mont Blanc while hiking from Flegere to Plan Praz. Get to câble lift early to avoid lines waiting to head up.
