I really liked this trail. There are some nice mountain and desert views. I didn't do the guided tour into the cave(need a reservation), but you can hike the trail to the cave entrance without a guide. It's a trail worth doing if you want something to do outside of the main Cavern. The trail is short but it is uphill the entire way. 500ft in roughly half a mile is fairly steep.

Parts are a tad overgrown, but outside of a couple sharper turns, it's fairly well marked. there were a handful of man made stacked rocks to mark occasional parts of the trail. all in all, very quite, not too hard, although proper footing is needed at points. Trail gets thin at times near some edges. Amazing views up top!

Most is paved. The other half is an Easy scramble. Such an oasis, worth the drive.

First and foremost, Sitting Bull Falls is beautiful, and you get to see it right away. Second, the trails seem super well marked initially, but after you get a mile in, they are super confusing and we only made it around because of All Trails. I think the actual trail should be T68 but we followed that and it was way off of AllTrails. So we backtracked and went to the outlook. It wasn’t a super hard trail but it was a little difficult going out. It’s really pretty out there and you should definitely go. But just watch where you’re going.

Not an easy hike. But a worthwhile one. Beautiful views all the way. It’s a narrow trail but well marked. Trekking poles help, lots of loose rock. No one else was on the trail and it looked as if it had been awhile since anyone was. We really enjoyed it.

Easy, paved road to a gorgeous oasis in the middle of the desert.

Guide is not necessary to hike this trail but to see caves you need a a guide. Out & back hike is around 11 miles total if you go all the way to the GTR junction. Pretty steep after first two miles, rocky too. Moderate to difficult hike with beautiful views down into north and middle Slaughter Canyon. Highly recommended day hike but might be difficult to find a camping spot if you’re staying overnight. Little to no traffic.

Good hike, heard others complain of it being hard to follow but much of it is an old Jeep trail so it’s really not hard to follow even though it is over grown. Great scenery, little to no traffic. Very rocky. Not a lot of camping spots, besides one area that is about 4.5 miles in, a saddle between to hills, and one area about 6 miles in from the gate you park at. It’s on top of a hill, it’s exposed to wind but nice flat ground without many rocks. More options after you get past the junction at slaughter canyon but that probably won’t be until day 2 for most people who are camping.

The drive there was beautiful and worth the drive. We didn't hike the entire trail but what we did hike was beautiful. It was a little too warm to hike much further since the trail seemed to be all sun. The terrain was very rocky so the hiking shoes came in handy.

I parked my car at the end of the gravel hard surfaced road on Lincoln Forest Road. Earlier picked up a camping permit at Pine Springs. Hiked 5.3 miles up to Wilderness Ridge campsite. Beautiful day, probably mid 70s. Clouding up now and thunder in the distance. May get rain tonight. Trail was a little heavy on brush. Wished I would’ve left the lower part my pants on. Not bad, just a little heavy. Great hike, great scenery. I’ll return tomorrow to the car and brought back to Juarez where my wife is with her family. I do it again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it

Hiked the GRT from Carlsbad Caverns Lechuguilla Trailhead to Guadalupe Peak over 5 days. Really enjoyed the CAVE section of the trail and the GUMO section. The Lincoln portion is pretty, but the trail is rough due to ATV/Jeep use. Can't wait to do it again however. The solitude is a big draw for me, we didn't see any other hikers until McKittrick Canyon. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYmJ1IlW3r3B57amwdiYjX_tMpra80y7k

Great place to get away from the heat. There are a few pools to swim in and the water is really cold.

Very pretty trail. Starts out a little steep and rocky but worth the effort. You get to see a pond at the top and then follow creek at the top of the Falls.

A lovely place for a short hike, some shade, or a dip in the pools. We didn’t continue on the trail and only went for the short hike but it was worth it. The stair-stepping to the top of the falls might be difficult for someone with knee or hip issues but the lower pools are much more accessible. Falls overlook is accessible by wheelchair.

Thus is a stop off the main road leading to the park. It offers a view of the Canyon. Pretty, unfortunately, the road goes through the canyon. There is a much nicer stop closer to the entrance with cliff dwellings .

Beautiful and clean pond sits at the bottom of this waterfall. There is a trail that will take you to the top of the waterfall where the springs are located but i didn't have time to complete that hike. It's a bit steep and rocky. There is also a path that leads straight to the bottom of the waterfall. It's a nice place to take a dip. I went when the weather was perfect so the water was fresh. There are multiple ponds hidden in this area so climbing over a few rocks is well worth it. There are also caves hidden as well. But they are closed off. A few people were able to make it around and they mentioned that there are steps and grips made by previous hikers to make the trip inside easier. I chose not to take that trip because the rock climbing was steep and slippery. All in all, this was a beautiful place for all ages to enjoy.

We did an overnight backpacking trip starting from the falls on Trail 68 to 215, then 217 to 226. This takes you up to the top of the buttes which has amazing views. The trail to the top is steep and rocky. Trail markers are mostly rock cairns and the trail is difficult to find at times when it goes over rocks. We had to back track a couple of times. Once on top you descend into Last Chance Canyon. Beautiful dramatic cliff faces on both sides of the canyon. We found a great flat non-rocky camping spot near the river bed in the canyon. Only down side is the area is shared with cattle and lots of cow pies (didn’t see any cattle only their pies). The trail then takes you back to the trail head at the lower parking lot. About 15 miles total.

The water fall was way taller in person. Not a insane amount of water flowing but it was really cool. There were 2 big water falls and if you go to the top and follow the river theres a few more. But at the main water fall would be an amazing place to swim if it wasn’t so cold. Theres also like 5 more trails there but there really rocky.

spectacular hike not too far from Carlsbad. Made it to the top, watched the sunset, and headed down. Took me about an hour to get up and 30mins to get down

Very pretty and an amazing contrast to the high desert around it. Nice to add to a trip to Guadalupe peak or Carlsbad Caverns.
