Lovely fall hike. We encountered just one other hiker. Trail was well maintained.

Dog friendly. Lots of people. Muddy and messy after a rain with some of the side trails washed out. Pretty views and the gravel trails are nice

The trailhead is located only .5 miles from the waterfall. This parking lot is 1.7 miles south of route 55 on Cass road. There are multiple lots, this is not the first lot you come to. This lot is further down Cass and has a sign Field Research Station building. It also has a big sign for Waterfall Glen. Go down the .1 mile drive and you will see the parking lot. The trail head is right next to the information sign. The entire route we took was very well marked. Very well maintained crushed limestone. Spectacular views, its georgous! Some bicyclists really fly down this trail not aware that people are walking. Startled us a few times. Truly one of the best trails I’ve done.

Easy path to follow for all 9.3 miles; some beautiful views, including the waterfall.

Nice trail. Can be crowded on weekends. You will hear on and off road noise and plane noise. If you are looking for a shorter hike than 9 miles, there are very few ways to make it shorter other than just turning around and coming back the way you came.

Awesome trail!

One of the best maintained trails I have been on. Compliments to the park service for great signage and mileage markings. This trail has crushed gravel paths with a small degrees of elevation-hard to find in northern Illinois. I recommend this trail.

We go close to every weekend spring, summer, fall. Love it! Just wish they had at least shower house. Electric would be nice too. But right now generators are used in camp D

Great trail. Very scenic. Go counterclockwise if you want to to avoid that steep climb. Note that nearly all of it is gravel, so it might get muddy after rain.

Nice trail, well maintained. If you’re not use to hills, a few will be challenging!

A fun trail for the whole family. Marked very well. The waterfall area is great for a picnic.

A little challenging for beginners but if you stay on route and go at a steady pace this is a nice trail.

hiked with a group of 10. Great trail. Crushed limestone the whole way, nice and wide. Well maintained. A decent mix of shade and open sections. we went on a day where it was 90 degrees and sunny and we all felt ok. lots of nature to see, several bathrooms and benches spaced nicely along the route.

After much rainfall, the trail was still in decent shape. There were a few areas with where the trail was washed out, but still passable. The bridge crossing (as seen in the photo) was pretty stable despite the water flowing against it. I would proceed with extreme caution. I would say the diversity of scenery and wildlife are its strengths. Overall it is a nice comfortable trail that I will hike a couple times per month.

crushed stone path. great for biking or even a stroller. only 2 parts of the trail had some water even though it had rained heavily for the past 5 days.
