I hate to write this but I feel that it's important for people to know before coming to this location. I have been to this location 3 times and to hike / camp and I've noticed some strange activity. Everytime I have been to this location I have noticed men sometimes together and sometimes alone go into the woods for 5 minutes and then come back out again... the few times I have asked I have gotten what feels like bs answers like "taking my daily walk", but for 5 minutes... I've also had one man go out of his way to question me about why I was there and it gave me a weird vibe so much that I bailed on my solo camping trip. I'm not saying these men are dangerous but also I'm not 100% sure what is happening here. This a beautiful place to hike but I felt it was important to let people know.

Only did part of the yellow trail, from the group camping ground on the south end. Was a good walk, had rain the night before and lots of water on the trail. But there’s always ways to get around water. Very enjoyable, peaceful and the scenery is beautiful

A classic Florida wilderness hike. Mostly scrub pine forest. Lots of shade. The only downside was a general lack of vegetation variety.

Welp. This trail has potential.. however I found myself wading through over 1ft deep water several times. After awhile I decided to turn around solely out of fear of getting bit by an alligator. 2 stars.

Very flooded this time of year. Just have to except that your feet are going to be wet. Almost guaranteed to have the place to yourself however!! Great upside!!

Typical FL trail in July - buggy, hot and wet but a great ride. Will be back.

Straight-forward typical Florida hike through a combination of forest and scrub brush. The trail runs from a trailhead off state road 54 all the way to another entrance near the airport in Zephyrhills. There are a lot of very sandy parts of the trail the closer you get to Z-Hills. The day I took this hike I didn't see another soul out there and it was a round trip of a little over nine miles. It looks like a popular spot for horseback riding and there are several equestrian trails that crisscross the area.

This is for the "Yellow Trail" at Colt Creek State Park. You can either start from one of the two Flatwoods Trail Heads in the middle of the park or drive on the park road a little further south and park. If you start from the middle of the park though it will take you either 3 or about 3.25 miles just to reach the start of the Yellow Trail. The actual Yellow Trail is really about a 5-mile loop, even though the trail map says its 7 miles. The is by far the least traveled part of Colt Creek State Park and I rarely see anyone else out here. It's also typically where I see the most wildlife. It's very well marked, and there are a couple of spots where you can shorten it if you need to. The recording I did covers the entire Yellow Trail by starting from the Flatwoods Trailhead in the middle of the park, and I added a little more distance by varying the route on the way back.

Typical Florida Trail. Lots of walking in tall pine trees with palmetto fronds all around. Trail is mostly well-maintained. A couple places you have to walk around mud and in one place I had to walk through water.
