Really lovely trail. Easy parking for cars & RVs and there are Bathrooms. Trail is almost completely flat the entire loop and is wide enough for a car. Friendly for all ages. It is common to spot different types of birds and other types of animals. Pretty views of the wetlands and some benches to sit and look out over the marsh. Went in winter so no problem with bugs as other reviews have mentioned. There is very little shade so bring a lot of water in the hot season (as you should always do anyways). Overall a great trail if you want to go out and move around but don’t want to work too hard.

We’ve walked this trail with our dog three times this week: such a sweet spot. It’s easy and lovely and well maintained, though bug spray is a must if you are there for sunrise /sunset. Looking forward to winter and full bird glory. This week we were treated to a pair of harriers and lots of geese soaring across the November sky. Passels of quail and an occasional bunny added to the ambience. It will only get better. What a nice retreat from Modesto.

Slightly disappointed. A lot of mosquitoes, really, a lot. There are literally no views on the river as vegetation on banks are overgrown so no views at all.

Easy walk, most areas are reasonably flat and gravel covered with some dirt/grass in the back portion of the trail. About 30-40ft of the trail through the marsh was washed out but was still passable. Benches along route at vantage points, in good condition, all but one were accessible due to overgrowth. Evident proof (old and fresh scat, ruined eggs/nest) of coyote and/or bobcat activity on trail. Little to no useful information about the fauna one might come across. Mosquitos are abundant.

This is a nice little nature walk. Not many people on the trail. It’s not hard in the least but definitely drench yourself in the bug spray because of the mosquitoes.

This trail is the easiest to walk and some nice plant and animal life. The best part is the first mile and would only recommend that for views and wildlife. The rest has high shrubs and trees which work against you in two ways. First, they obstructed all the surroundings and second, they work to trap the heat from the road. Also, the trail takes you back towards highway 132 so you get noise the farther out you hike, which seems counterintuitive. Still, I'm glad I came. I had no idea this was out here and I did enjoy it.

Good beginner trail! I have bad knees and the trails are level enough for me to traverse. The trail is not too far from Tracy/Modesto but far enough to feel like you are out in nature with lots of wildlife to see. I saw rabbits, deer, hawks, herons, and quails.

July, 2019. I started at 6:30am and it was glorious. Many animals including; coyotes, large jack rabbits, egrets both great and night shade, hawks, blue herons, and many more. Some parts had a few mosquitos but not too bad. The trail gets less rocky about one mile in. Very little shade so go early or later. Peaceful and replenishing.

This trail was very pretty and unpopulated! I went before the Sun went down about mid day and enjoyed the pretty views and stea relaxing walk. My only issue with this hike, is that the mosquitoes are relentless! Before going on this hike I smothered myself and my dog in mosquito repellent but they still were all over us. Just make sure when you come to bring extra duty bug repellent and go in the afternoon when the Sun is at its highest and you will have a great time period there was a lot of really cool wildlife to see.

I’ve been here twice now and have seen a kingsnake, a velvet ant, numerous rabbits and squirrels and a variety of birds. This is a fun little hike on well-maintained trails.

Came here for first time and took hike for 1 1/2 hours. It was nice and nice day, saw a few benches but wished there could be more. Great place to get out of town! Perhaps some numerical posts that explain what is in those areas would be good too.

Nice trail which I would recommend to everyone. Since there are a very few visitors during the week it would be nice if they would allow bicycles too.

Nice easy trail. Some shady spots but a lot of walking a dirt road in the sun. Best as a morning hike. Lots of animals. I didn't have the bug problem some mentioned.

Bring bug spray! Some of the path goes right next to the river, which is beautiful, but a lot of mosquitos in those areas. Otherwise it’s fabulous for dogs & kids. Well maintained & very peaceful! Also we saw a lot of bunnies, squirrels, butterflies, & birds!

I wouldn’t necessarily call this one a hike; more of a nature walk. Had to cut this one a little short due to my dog starting to overheat, just a tad. This one is a good one to bring your dog for a walk (earlier in the day for dogs that run hot), meander, or go for a trail run. A little word of caution...there’s a downed tree close to the beginning of the trail and it’s covered in bees. I had to carefully navigate myself and my dog closest to the base of the tree where the bees weren’t as plentiful. Plenty of wildlife and when I say wildlife, I mean rabbits, waterfowl, hawks, quails, other flittering birds, and mini and not so mini vampires, so be sure to bring your bug spray. There was also an abundance of coyote scat. Not surprising with all the bunnies abound ;)

Beautiful dog friendly trail.

Great walk for the kids! Brought clipboards and wrote a pretty lengthy list of all the animals we saw. Easy to find, great parking, and bathroom is a plus. Peaceful walk!

Great walk for my dog. The trail isn’t overly used, so the only sounds you hear are birds.
