This walk can either be done in one day or backpacked, which would include camping halfway through. This route can also be done in either direction. Both ways work. Croesor is a small village down a thin winding road. From Croeser you will enter the Moelwynion from the center of the village. The path leading from town can be muddy and almost a stream at certain points of the year. This part of the walk is mostly open moor. You will see Cnicht and Moelwyn Mawr in the distance, atop their grassy ridges. Stay the path until it begins to climb Moelwyn Bach. Moelwyn Mawr is very craggy, so you will need to do some route finding and some scrambling. At times you may not want to do the most direct route to the summit. You may need to loop laterally to find an easier run up the crag. Beware that some areas of this route can be very boggy so be prepared to get wet. You'll then go northwest until reaching Llyn yr Adar, before turning south. You'll then go over Cnicht and then return to the car park.
