I grew up hiking this peak with my grandpa because it is close to Delta where I grew up. It is a fun, pretty hike and there are two different trailheads to choose from. Typically, we would begin at the southern trailhead in Oak City Canyon. The northern trailhead can be accessed near the town of Fool Creek. Both trails meet at the top of the saddle. From the saddle, you ascend through the trees and up to the top of the peak where you will find a steep drop-off. I took my husband last September. We had a great time. There were a couple of spots where the trail is difficult to find & we had to forge our own trail a little bit. Fortunately, there are several places where people have left stacks of rocks to mark the trail, so be on the lookout for those. There was a severe fire in the area that left many of the trees burned. When we hiked in September 2017, there was a lot of fog which made the dead trees appear eerie and ethereal. The most difficult portion of the hike is the steep switchbacks at the end.
