I didn’t use snowshoes on the trail up to either lake, the trail is very well compacted and at least 2ft wife. When you come to the first lake definitely go off this trail to view it. It’s completely frozen over and you’re able to walk on it. On the loop back after you pass both lakes I ended up putting on my snowshoes because I’d sink like every couple feet, but doable if you don’t have snowshoes if you’re determined. Both lakes were beautiful and frozen. The higher one had less people and the lower one had campsites that you could eat lunch at or stay overnight if you’d like. The incline is very gradual throughout the trail. Would highly recommend. Roads coming up were completely clear
