Wanted to get some mileage & a decent workout so I chose to do HOST’s loop (1mi) first then MST’s out & back, added on the out & back up to the ForestRidge subdivision (it’s on the trail map near MST) & then HOST’s Spectator Trace back to the HOST loop and then finish. This resulted in about 4.5 miles. I recommend it if you want a good variety of scenery & terrain. Side note: there are a couple picnic tables that can be found @ HOST & a few rustic benches sprinkled throughout.

These short, easy "traces" encircle the left side of the Occoneechee Speedway Trail, and highlight different historical features associated with the speedway. One is a walk to the "terrace" building emblazoned with a large Pepsi-Cola symbol, another one goes to a "wolf tree" - not sure what the significance is; another goes to Beech Bluff, which is some high ground above the Eno where a once-mighty beech stood that has since split and fallen, and finally one is spectator trace which takes you past the men's room to the grandstand above the track. Not that exciting but a couple of historical signs do contain some interesting information... for example, did you know that the last 100 mile NASCAR race at the track was Sept 25, 1968 and the total purse was only $4,600?
