The east side of this forest is popular for walking around the lake in summer or winter, camping, and fishing. The loop around the lake is only about 2 miles. There are stables northeast of the forest and their trails connect into the forest. Cross country skiing is nice here in the winter. The west side of the forest, across the road from the east side, is very seldom used by anyone and is much more overgrown. It's a good place to work on GPS, map and compass skills or to find some peace and quiet.

Just an average upstate NY forest. Couple of nice views including a lake and rolling hills to the northeast. Nice, quiet place to spend a half day. Main trails on the west side were not too bad, but the smaller trails were overgrown. On the east side just 5 and the north tip of 6 are tough to follow, which is not unusual. Good place to practice wayfinding skills.
