Great hike and very easy to follow the trail. Start from Tapo Canyon, once you reach the top the trail splits if you go left you will tack on another 1.5 miles which will will give you a little over 17 miles we went to the right finished with 15.6 miles. both trails end up at the same spot so your good either way. If you take the trail to the right you will go right when the trail ends if you take the left trail you will follow the trail straight at the bottom. From there look for a trail to your left, if you pass a tar pit on your right you have passed it. You'll eventually end up on Las Llajas trail you follow that all the way up where you will pass the Chumash trail on your right ( stay straight ) and the trail you are on will turn into the Rocky Peak trail. It was definitely a great butt kicker and totally doable.
