The walk takes you over dikes past orchards and vineyards. Winding roads from the creek ridges and side roads entered the low pool area. They were called search paths or weighs. These roads are considered as access roads to the pools with the aim of removing the peat present there. The peat was initially used for salt extraction, later as fuel. The removal of the peat was called nuts. It has been proven that a number of weighers ended up in an area of land that has been drained. One of the weighers in Ritthem was therefore called Moeringswegeling. They are gullies that were created after a dyke breach. With dike repair, people usually chose the path of least resistance, and the new dike was placed outside or inside the gully. This continued to exist as an attractive landscape element. The Zak van Zuid-Beveland in particular is littered with welen. These sometimes lie side by side like spectacle lenses.
