A straight walk that starts at Hoek van Holland, where the ships arrive as floating tower blocks flanked by pilot boats, because you have to do that carefully and you have to earn money. It is one of the few open connections with the hinterland that Europe is called. Hoek van Holland as a seaside resort was considerably damaged during the war. The last cabinet meeting took place here in a bunker before the district was taken to the other side. The dune terrain is extensive here and you can walk freely. This does not apply to Ter Heijde. The row of dunes is very narrow here. You can't walk through it here, but you can walk past the many holiday houses, where half of Rotterdam spends their free time in "De Hoek". Admiral Tromp died in Ter Heijde. The dunes become wider at Kijkduin. With Scheveningen, Kijkduin is the seaside resort of The Hague. With its boulevard with restaurants and shops, it is the main attraction for the local population. You don't see much of The Hague itself through the dunes. The sea and "De Pier" in the distance. Before you enter Scheveningen you will pass the remains of Radio Scheveningen. The radio center for shipping. It is no longer necessary, because a satellite simply works better. Scheveningen is special. It didn't need a harbor, but it needed fish. So the ships land on the beach (bomschuiten) to bring their catch to the residents of The Hague. So boats broke quickly and therefore went easier. Scheveningen was a "slum" and was located behind the Hague on the sewers. That meant a lot of diseases in Scheveningen. Scheveningen was given a harbor in the 20th century, but fishing has ended and the Scheveningen has increasingly taken on the role of a seaside resort, with the "Pier" and the Kurhaus as the center. For the first time, the Rolling stones performed at the Kurhaus and with them many other international celebrities. The coffee costs a bit, but then you also have something: beautiful entrance, beautiful rooms with a sea view. The location is so popular that it is now completely sandwiched between other buildings. Another complete renovation of the area is coming. Scheveningen has a large prison ("Oranjehotel" in the war), where the convicts and suspects of the International Court of Justice live. However, you must go to Madurodam for an outing. The Netherlands' largest miniature city (1:25), the proceeds of which went to students suffering from TB (now to charities). Madurodam has a chosen (youth) mayor and is one of the most important attractions in the Netherlands (700,000 visitors per year)
