Along and through the Slikken van Flakkee. The maps were promising for this walk, because the Slikken van Flakkee is announced on it. Unfortunately, it is an inaccessible nature area with a high barbed wire content. But the Zeedijk is grassy and guarantees beautiful views of De Grevelingen and the polders of Herkingen, Dirksland and Melissant. Eventually, at Melissant, people can walk outside the dikes and that is so spectacular that it gets a bit boring in the end. A fairly rough grass path leads more than four kilometers through a tunnel of bushes. In short, you have no view and no side paths and you walk more than an hour through the wilderness. At Stellendam the trail leads again along the Zeedijk, where you continue under Goedereede towards Ouddorp along an old ramp. Nicely preserved by Rijkswaterstaat after the construction of the N57. Due to the brackish water, the rare sturgeon shrimp is found here. The special thing about the Grevelingen is that it is salt. The locks in the Grevelingendam allow the salt water to pass through, so that the mud flats (an area that falls dry every time). A swallow is actually a mudflats and is very rich in food. The walk takes you along two Nature Areas of the South Holland landscape: Pitweie and Preekhil. In the latter area you can admire a beautiful (what is called) restored bunker. Goeree Overflakkee was originally a gathering of islands, all of which were surrounded.
