Just like at the Nieuwe Waterweg, the area around the mouth of the North Sea Canal is fairly inaccessible for the walking public. It is even worse on the north side. You have to travel ten kilometers inland to bypass the blast furnaces. A beautiful forest strip has been laid as a corridor across the industrial areas to this home from a very poor fishing village. Because De Wijk had no harbor, fishing was bottled and the population could beg in Beverwijk. And as if it wasn't bad enough: the Germans needed the village for their defense, so that the population had to evacuate. The entire village had to be fully restored after the war. And now it is a quiet resort with a view of the blast furnaces. The North Holland Water Supply Dunes start from Wijk aan Zee. A beautiful area of 5300 hectares that allows you to roam through for little money. Here too infiltration areas such as at the Amsterdam dunes. All beautiful views. The last part of the walk runs along the beach to Egmond. When you walk in between the seaside resorts, there is always a nudge, where the older man in particular is walking around in his nakie. Egmond aan Zee is the end point of the stage. It is a typical seaside resort for the West Frisians.
